On the afternoon of August 7 (local time), within the framework of a state visit to the Republic of Angola, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong visited the headquarters of the Angola National Assembly.
After giving a policy speech at the Special plurial Session of the Angola National Assembly held during the visit, the President met with President of the Angola National Assembly Carolina Cerqueira.
At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Carolina Cerqueira emphasized that Vietnam is a friend who is always in the heart of Angola. President Luong Cuong's visit is a message of friendship built on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation for mutual development.
National Assembly Chairwoman Carolina Cerqueira thanked President Luong Cuong for his important policy speech demonstrating Vietnam's vision of an open, diversified, multilateral foreign policy, determined to elevate cooperation with Angola in particular and Africa in general.
Expressing his admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Angola expressed his confidence that the visit will open a new chapter, further deepening bilateral cooperation.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes to promote cooperation with the Vietnamese National Assembly, together with Government agencies, to promote the completion of the legal framework on bilateral cooperation, promote exchanges between young parliamentarians and female parliamentarians, and contribute to promoting cooperation in the fields of science - technology, culture, people-to-people exchanges, etc.
Expressing his honor to visit and express his policy before the plenary session of the Angola National Assembly, President Luong Cuong said that this is an important opportunity for Vietnam to share with Angola and international friends about its development orientation, Vietnam's viewpoints on the world and regional situation and the development direction of Vietnam - Angola relations after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations.
Appreciating the important role and contribution of the Angola National Assembly in the outstanding achievements that Angola has achieved in recent times as well as in promoting bilateral relations, the President emphasized that Angola is a leading partner, a comrade and brother of Vietnam in Africa and expressed his desire to open a new stage of development in both quality and quality to build the Vietnam - Angola "cooperative partnership" relationship to become a model for South-South cooperation.
Agreeing with the proposals of the President of the National Assembly of Angola on strengthening the role of the National Assemblies of the two countries in the overall bilateral relationship, President Luong Cuong suggested that the National Assemblies of the two countries increase contact, delegation exchanges, exchanges, and experience sharing between professional committees and National Assembly deputies of the two countries, promote the establishment of the Vietnam - Angola Friendship Parliamentarians Group and strengthen coordination and consultation at multilateral parliamentary forums such as the World Parliamentary Union, the Global Young Parliamentarians Forum, etc.
President Luong Cuong and the Chairman of the National Assembly of Angola also agreed to continue to increase political trust, exchange high-level delegations on channels, including the parliamentary channel, create favorable legal conditions to support bilateral cooperation and promote the implementation of signed cooperation agreements, speed up the negotiation progress of a number of important documents of fundamental significance in the fields of investment, trade, oil and gas, energy, mining, agriculture, banking, etc.
