Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia promote cooperation in fighting against all types of crimes

The three Prime Ministers of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia agreed to promote cooperation in the fight against all types of crimes, protecting the friendly and peaceful border.

On the morning of October 27, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a working breakfast with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

The three Prime Ministers emphasized that in the context of the current world and regional situation, preserving and promoting the tradition of solidarity and cohesion between Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos becomes even more necessary and important.

In that spirit, the three sides agreed to continue to regularly exchange visits and tripartite meetings at all levels, first of all meetings between the three Ministers of National Defense, Public Security and Foreign Affairs, and at the same time, strengthen forms of propaganda on the achievements of cooperation and the historical value of solidarity and friendship, especially the mutual sacrifice between the three countries and three peoples, promote the connection of young leaders, young parliamentarians, youth and people of the three countries.

The three Prime Ministers agreed to increase exchanges and cooperation on the digital economy and digital government. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared Vietnam's experience in electronic citizen identification cards, building a "digital citizen" to create the most favorable conditions for people.

The three Prime Ministers also agreed to promote cooperation in preventing all types of crimes, protecting friendly, peaceful, stable and developing border lines, speeding up boundary and setting up markers; promptly preventing individuals and organizations from combating the relationship between the three countries, especially in cyberspace; and appropriately handling arising issues.

The three Prime Ministers also said that in the coming time, it is necessary to focus on promoting transport infrastructure connectivity; promoting border development cooperation; coordinating to create breakthroughs in economic, trade, investment, financial, and international integration cooperation, as a driving force to soon increase trade turnover between Vietnam - Cambodia to 20 billion USD and between Vietnam - Laos to 5 billion USD.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highly appreciated and thanked the support of Vietnam, Laos as well as ASEAN countries, especially ASEAN 2025 Chair Malaysia and the US, for helping Cambodia and Thailand reach an agreement on a ceasefire monitoring mechanism and emphasized that the agreement clearly demonstrated ASEAN's central role.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude to Cambodia and Laos for sending high-ranking delegations and armed forces to participate in parades and trekking for the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30) and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of Vietnam (September 2) as well as attending the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi (October 25).

On this occasion, the Prime Minister thanked and wished the Cambodian Government and the Lao Government to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese communities in both countries to live stably, integrate into the host society, and actively contribute to the development of Cambodia and Laos as well as the relationship between the three countries.
