General Secretary To Lam congratulated Ambassador Jaya Ratnam on his excellent completion of his mission in Vietnam, making an important contribution to upgrading the Vietnam - Singapore relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during General Secretary To Lam and his wife's historic visit to Singapore in March 2025.
The General Secretary emphasized that Vietnam always considers Singapore a close friend and key economic partner, wishing to continuously foster and bring the newly established framework of relations into depth and effectiveness.
General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two countries continue to further enhance political trust through strategic-level exchanges, focusing on effectively implementing the newly signed Action Program on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in areas where Singapore has strengths.
General Secretary To Lam sent his best wishes and best wishes to Singapore's senior leaders, thanked the Singapore Government for practically supporting Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of recent storms and floods; wished Ambassador Jaya Ratnam good health, success in his new position and always be a close friend of Vietnam.
Sincerely thanking the General Secretary for taking the time to meet, Ambassador Jaya Ratnam conveyed the greetings of senior Singaporean leaders, including Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to General Secretary To Lam; expressed his pleasure at witnessing Vietnam's miraculous development in recent years, affirming that he will always remember beautiful memories and admire the resilience, adaptability, spirit of rising up and solidarity of the Vietnamese people.
The Ambassador agreed with the General Secretary's guiding opinions on bilateral relations; said that political trust between the two leaders is an important foundation for increasingly strengthening bilateral relations; assessed that the Action Program to implement the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2025 - 2030 will open a new, more extensive and effective cooperation period for the two countries.
The Ambassador emphasized that, regardless of the position, it will contribute to promoting bilateral cooperation, including the development of the second-generation VSIP with the goal of 30 VSIP zones with high science and technology content in Vietnam in the near future, as well as other important fields; hoping that the two countries will coordinate closely, create resonance, and promote efficiency in 2027, when Vietnam hosts APEC and Singapore is ASEAN Chair.
