Vietnam accelerates construction of International Press Center to serve APEC 2027

Propaganda and cultural work is of particular importance in APEC Year 2027, an opportunity to promote Vietnam's image to international friends.

On July 10, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, Head of the APEC 2027 Propaganda and Culture Sub-committee (Sub-committee), chaired a meeting to review the coordination of the construction of the International Press Center to serve APEC 2027 High-Level Week. The meeting was held immediately after the Sub-committee's field survey in Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province in early July 2026.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the meeting was attended by members of the Sub-committee; representatives of leaders of key press agencies and host media agencies including Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam and Vietnam News Agency; representatives of VNPT, Viettel, MobiFone, NetNam telecommunications enterprises and Sun Group - the project investor.

Speaking to direct at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that propaganda and cultural work are of particular importance in APEC Year 2027, an opportunity to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that the International Press Center is one of the key items, directly serving thousands of domestic and international reporters and hundreds of media agencies to work and report on APEC 2027 Summit Week. Therefore, the construction of the International Press Center needs to be prepared methodically, modernly, professionally, meeting international standards and increasingly high operating requirements of the press.

At the meeting, delegates focused on exchanging views on the design plan, planning and technical requirements of the International Press Center.

Representatives of host media agencies have proposed many professional requirements related to signal distribution systems, live broadcasting standards, master control centers (MCR), international network infrastructure, studio space, working areas and booth systems for press agencies.

Representatives of telecommunications businesses jointly contributed opinions on plans to ensure information and telecommunications technology infrastructure, including fiber optic cable systems, high-speed internet, 5G mobile networks, broadcasting stations and satellite television cars, to meet the requirements of organizing a large-scale international event.

Representatives of the investor and agencies attending the meeting also exchanged views on the overall planning plan, arranging functional sub-areas, technical infrastructure of the International Press Center, and updated the project implementation progress and contents that need to be further completed in the coming time.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highly appreciated the spirit of responsibility and proactive coordination of agencies and units in the preparation process.

Emphasizing that the time from now until APEC 2027 High-Level Week is not much, the Deputy Minister requested units to continue to closely coordinate, maintain a regular exchange mechanism to promptly handle difficulties and obstacles; and at the same time urgently complete the plan to build and arrange the space and technical infrastructure of the International Press Center, ensuring synchronous, scheduled, safe and high-quality deployment, contributing to the successful organization of APEC Vietnam Year 2027.
