Mexico aims for long-term friendly, strategic, and stable cooperation with Vietnam

The Mexican Foreign Minister conveyed the message of wishing for a long-term strategic and stable friendly and cooperative relationship with Vietnam.

On July 8, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Politburo Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung had a phone conversation with Mexican Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Roberto Velasco Álvarez.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco Álvarez conveyed the greetings of President Claudia Sheinbaum to General Secretary and President To Lam and the message of wishing for a long-term strategic and stable friendly and cooperative relationship with Vietnam.

Minister Roberto Velasco Álvarez highly appreciated the socio-economic development achievements, Vietnam's increasingly high international position and prestige; affirmed that the Mexican Government highly values the friendly and cooperative relations with Vietnam in the overall policy towards the ASEAN region in particular and Asia-Pacific in general.

Minister Le Hoai Trung respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary and President To Lam and the invitation to President Claudia Sheinbaum to pay an official visit to Vietnam at an appropriate time.

The Minister affirmed that in the process of national development, Vietnam consistently values relations with traditional friendly countries in Latin America, in which Mexico is a top important partner, on the basis of sharing many bilateral, regional and international benefits.

Vietnam wishes to promote the relationship between the two countries to develop substantively and effectively in all fields, towards soon establishing a new relationship framework commensurate with the level of bilateral relations. Vietnam supports Mexico's strengthening relations with ASEAN, contributing to peace, cooperation and development of the two regions.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries expressed their pleasure at the positive progress in multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, in which bilateral mechanisms such as Political Consultation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Joint Committee on Economic - Trade and Investment Cooperation are maintained regularly; legal frameworks are effectively implemented and new negotiations are established in many fields; two-way trade continues to grow rapidly on the basis of taking advantage of the CPTPP Agreement, of which the two countries are members. At the phone call, Minister Le Hoai Trung also requested the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with Mexican ministries and sectors to further facilitate market access for products of the two countries.

The two Ministers agreed that the two sides should closely coordinate to bring bilateral relations to a new height; promote high-level visits and contacts; implement cooperation mechanisms; negotiate towards signing a number of important cooperation documents; effectively implement CPTPP; strengthen coordination within the APEC framework in the context that Vietnam and Mexico will be hosts of APEC 2027 and Mexico APEC 2028 respectively, continue to coordinate and support each other at international organizations and multilateral forums.
