Vietnam - Thailand agree to promote effective cooperation in many fields

Within the framework of the State visit to Vietnam by King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen, after the official welcoming ceremony on the morning of September 15, General Secretary and President To Lam held talks with the King of Thailand.

General Secretary and President To Lam welcomed the King and Queen and the Royal Thai delegation on a state visit to Vietnam; emphasizing that the first visit to Vietnam by a Thai King in the past 50 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976 is of historical significance, an important milestone in the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and Thailand, especially after the two countries upgraded relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025.

General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Vietnam always values the friendly neighborly relationship and comprehensive cooperation with Thailand, and wishes the two countries to continue to accompany and support each other in development, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region.

General Secretary and President To Lam and the King of Thailand highly appreciated the positive developments of Vietnam-Thailand relations over the past 50 years, from a friendly neighborly relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2013 and upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework in 2025; agreed to continue to consolidate political trust through maintaining high-level visits and contacts at all levels, promoting the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, and effectively coordinating the implementation of the Vietnam-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The two Leaders agreed that the bond between the people of the two countries is a particularly important foundation for the good and sustainable development of Vietnam-Thailand relations, a driving force to promote the increasingly developed friendship between the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam and the King unanimously directed to promote the effective implementation of economic, trade and investment cooperation in a connected and effective direction; further strongly implement people-to-people exchanges, cooperation in education, culture, tourism and transportation connections; strengthen cooperation between localities, create more substantive connections, contributing to deepening the relationship between the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the activities and projects sponsored by the Royal Thai Family in the field of education and community development in Vietnam; affirmed that Vietnam will continue to coordinate and create favorable conditions for these meaningful activities to be implemented effectively.

General Secretary and President To Lam thanked the King and the Royal Family of Thailand for their good feelings for Vietnam, especially their concern for the Vietnamese community in Thailand as well as the preservation of President Ho Chi Minh's relics, which are symbolic symbols of history, cultural exchange and friendship between the people of the two countries.

Regarding regional and international issues, the two Leaders highly appreciated the coordination between Vietnam and Thailand at multilateral forums, regional and sub-regional cooperation mechanisms; agreed to continue to make positive contributions to consolidating ASEAN's solidarity, unity and central role.

The two Leaders expressed their belief that the State visit to Vietnam by the King of Thailand and the Queen will contribute to further consolidating the friendship, political trust between the two countries and understanding between the people of the two countries, creating new momentum to bring the Vietnam-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to develop more deeply, substantively, effectively and sustainably, contributing to building exemplary Vietnam-Thailand cooperative relations.

On the same day, September 15, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly hosted a reception to welcome Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana.
