According to the Government Newspaper, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the UAE on its recent achievements with the Minister's important contributions to economic transformation, sustainable development, economic diversification and digitalization, and promoting innovation, thereby becoming one of the leading financial, economic and technological centers in the region.
The Prime Minister congratulated the UAE on successfully hosting the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28); he believed that the "UAE Vision 2031" to turn the UAE into a global economic hub and a successful development model for the world will become a reality.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, in his role as Chairman of the UAE Subcommittee in the Intergovernmental Committee between the two countries, for his important contributions to promoting bilateral relations, especially completing negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
In the coming time, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides promote cooperation and share experiences to more closely connect the two economies, create breakthroughs for economic cooperation, promote complementary strengths, especially in institution building, developing financial centers, free trade zones, developing enterprises, attracting talents, promoting research, application of science and technology and innovation; strengthen the organization of trade and investment promotion activities, connecting enterprises; promote people-to-people exchanges, tourism cooperation, and open direct flights between the two countries.
The Prime Minister also asked the UAE to facilitate the import of Vietnam’s key products such as agricultural and aquatic products, fresh fruits and vegetables, processed foods, etc.; promote cooperation and support the development of the Halal industry in Vietnam; and aim for a bilateral trade turnover of 10 billion USD.
Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in recent years and expressed his impression of Vietnam's economic policies, especially in tax exemptions and investment attraction.
The Minister said he was very interested in learning about these policies, and shared some of the UAE's experiences in business development, investment attraction, economic zones, free trade, talent attraction, intellectual property, visa policies, etc., especially procedures for registering, establishing businesses, and implementing investment projects in an exceptionally short time. Thanks to that, 3 years ago, the country only had 500,000 businesses, but now it has 1.5 million businesses.
The Minister thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his determination and active support during the CEPA negotiations, saying that the UAE side was very pleased and looking forward to the signing of this agreement, wishing to promote cooperation to maximize the opportunities brought about by the agreement, creating a breakthrough in economic relations between the two countries.
In particular, the Minister said that the UAE wishes to organize a large-scale investment conference in Vietnam with the participation of leading regional and international corporations and businesses, and prestigious speakers to share experiences, promote economic cooperation and attract investment from the UAE and the world to Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed and assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant agencies to coordinate with the UAE side to organize this event.
