According to VNA, on the morning of November 24, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended and delivered an important speech as a guest at the opening session of the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP 11) with the theme "In search of peace, reconciliation and tolerance".
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized: “Cambodia's success story in consolidating peace, reconciliation, and national development is a testament to the noble goal of building a peaceful, better, more civilized world where people live tolerantly with each other.”
Sharing with the leaders of parliaments and parliamentarians of the countries attending IPTP 11, the National Assembly Chairman pointed out that peace is not only the absence of war, but also respect, love and sharing among peoples and nations. Vietnam especially cherishes the value of peace, stability and friendship so that every citizen can enjoy independence, freedom, prosperity and happiness.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam supports initiatives contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world, and supports the promotion of resolving international conflicts and disputes by peaceful means, without threatening or using force, and in compliance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
To build peace, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that first of all, it is necessary to promote mutual understanding, narrow differences between countries and ethnic groups; join hands to promote sustainable and inclusive development, and address the root causes of poverty and inequality, which is also a way to create a sustainable foundation for a peaceful and tolerant world.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that respecting international law and promoting multilateralism, especially the central role of the United Nations, is the most civilized way to prevent war and conflict.
In that spirit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man believes that the parliament and parliamentarians will play an active role and have an important voice in promoting the rule of law, building trust and mutual respect, and finding sustainable peaceful solutions to regional disputes as well as urgent global challenges today.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates and fully supports Cambodia’s efforts to promote dialogue, reconciliation and cooperation. As a neighboring country of Cambodia, Vietnam believes that Cambodia’s successful experiences in national development and building friendly and cooperative relations with neighboring and regional countries will contribute to promoting peace and cooperation in the region as well as in the world.
At IPTP 11, President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke and shared stories about the process of building and developing the country, the process of reconciliation, overcoming divisions to build peace and unify the country.
During that process, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highly appreciated and expressed deep gratitude for the assistance of the Vietnamese Army in liberating and unifying the country, escaping the Pol Pot genocide; Vietnam respects the independence, autonomy and decisions of Cambodia.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also shared about Cambodia's achievements in recent years, efforts to integrate into the international community, participate as a responsible member of the international community, and efforts to address current global challenges; emphasized the win-win approach and the need for dialogue and cooperation between parties to build peace.
The Vietnamese National Assembly is not yet a member of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace. This is the first time the Vietnamese National Assembly has attended the IPTP Session.
On the afternoon of November 24, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Phnom Penh, successfully concluding the official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia to attend the 12th ICAPP and 11th IPTP Conferences.
