Vietnam and Thailand still have much room to complement and develop together

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung requested that Vietnam and Thailand further strongly promote trade and investment cooperation, creating changes in connecting the two economies.

On September 15, in Hanoi, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung met with King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen of Thailand on the occasion of their State visit to Vietnam from September 14-16, 2026.

Exchanging views on major cooperation contents between the two countries in the coming time, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung requested the two sides to continue to maintain delegation exchanges, high-level and all-level contacts; coordinate to effectively implement the Action Program to implement the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2026 - 2031 just signed by the two sides in May 2026.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung requested the two sides to further strongly promote trade, investment, and ministerial and local cooperation between the two countries, creating changes in connecting the two economies. Highly appreciating the positive contributions of Thai businesses investing and doing business in Vietnam, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for Thai businesses to feel secure in investing and operating effectively and sustainably in Vietnam, and at the same time requested the King and the Royal Family of Thailand to continue to pay attention to and support Vietnamese businesses investing and doing business in Thailand, thereby strengthening business connections, promoting two-way investment cooperation and deepening economic relations between the two countries.

The King of Thailand and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in areas of important significance to each country's development orientation, including science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The Prime Minister emphasized that with the strengths and complementarity of the two economies, Vietnam and Thailand still have much room to support and complement each other and develop together.

The King of Thailand highly appreciated the role of the Governments of the two countries in promoting comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand; affirmed that he will pay attention to promoting the effective implementation of cooperation mechanisms between the two countries. The King also shared some areas that Thailand has experience in and the Royal Thai Family is interested in; expressed his wish that the visit will contribute to further expanding people-to-people exchanges, cultural cooperation, education, tourism and connectivity between localities; strengthening understanding and bonds between the people of the two countries, creating a more sustainable foundation for Vietnam-Thailand relations in the coming time.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung thanked and hoped to continue to receive the attention and favorable conditions of the King and the Royal Family of Thailand so that the Vietnamese community in Thailand can continue to live stably and contribute positively to the development in Thai localities. The Prime Minister also thanked the King and the Royal Family of Thailand for their concern for preserving and maintaining the relics associated with President Ho Chi Minh in Thailand - precious symbols of friendship between the two countries.

Regarding regional and international cooperation, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung requested Vietnam and Thailand to continue to closely coordinate at ASEAN, Mekong mechanisms and multilateral forums, especially in promoting connectivity, narrowing development gaps and strengthening the region's adaptability to new challenges.

The two Leaders expressed their belief that with the foundation of friendly and trustworthy relations that the two countries have painstakingly cultivated over the past 50 years, along with the concern and good feelings of the King and the Royal Family of Thailand towards Vietnam, Vietnam-Thailand relations will continue to develop more deeply, substantively and sustainably, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, and at the same time making positive contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
