Continuing the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly, on the morning of May 12, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh presented a report on the National Election Day for the election of 16th National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh said that, based on the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; based on Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW dated April 12, 2025 of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee; based on the Law on Election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies in Articles 4 and 5 stipulates: "The National Assembly decides on National Election Day for elections of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels", "Elementary Day must be on Sunday and announced no later than 115 days before election day".
Based on the opinions of competent authorities and on the basis of summarizing recent elections, the National Assembly Standing Committee submitted to the National Assembly the Election Day of the 16th National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is Sunday, March 15, 2026.
According to the draft resolution, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Election Council, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and relevant agencies and organizations are responsible for implementing this Resolution.

According to the National Election Committee, on the election day decided and announced by the competent authority, voting will start from 7:00 a.m. and will be carried out continuously until 7:00 p.m. on the same day.
Depending on the local situation, the Election Team can decide to start voting earlier but not before 5am or end later but not later than 9pm on the same day.
In case of nearly time to end the voting as prescribed and still voters have not yet completed the voting, the election team shall notify the voters still in the voting room area about preparing to end the voting time and request voters to urgently complete the voting.
The Election Team will close the ballot box at the prescribed time, regardless of whether voters have voted in full or not.
The voting must be conducted continuously. In case of an unexpected event that disrupts voting, the Election Team must immediately seal the ballot box and documents directly related to the election, promptly report to the Election Committee, and at the same time, take necessary measures to continue voting.
In case the voting period has not been expired, but 100% of the list of voters in the voting area have participated in the vote, the election team must not declare the end of the vote and conduct the votes before 7pm on the same day.
Therefore, in principle, Election Teams and members of Election Teams can mobilize and propagate to help voters actively participate in voting and exercise their voting rights, but must not urge or force voters to vote early to end voting early.
