Faced with the complicated Middle East conflict, the Prime Minister requested the implementation of measures to stabilize gasoline and oil prices and consider evacuating citizens out of dangerous areas.

In the afternoon of March 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Government with ministries, branches, and agencies to assess the situation and scenarios and solutions to respond to new developments in the world that may negatively impact our country, especially the very complex conflict in the Middle East and other regions.

According to the Government Portal, after listening to the reports and opinions at the meeting, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to preside over and prepare a report to submit to the Politburo and the Secretariat in accordance with the direction of General Secretary To Lam and the guidance of the Central Office.

Relevant ministries and sectors must submit reports to the Government Office before 1:00 PM daily. Agencies must be on duty regularly, respond promptly, flexibly, and effectively in the current context.

Analyzing and forecasting the situation in the coming time, the Prime Minister believes that it may affect Vietnam in terms of macroeconomic stability, especially in terms of inflation and growth; in terms of energy security, logistics (due to high prices), disruption of supply chains, in terms of citizens and Vietnamese people abroad, security and defense, security and order and foreign affairs.

Government leaders emphasized a number of principles and viewpoints to respond promptly and effectively to the situation, ensuring the achievement of set goals, including economic growth from 10%, macroeconomic stability, inflation control, and ensuring major balances of the economy.

Accordingly, it is necessary to always be calm, persistent, and steadfast in major principles, not be confused, fearful, lose composure, nor be subjective, negligent, or lose vigilance; closely monitor the situation to handle it flexibly, promptly, effectively, and proactively respond.

To cope with immediate impacts, the Prime Minister requested to focus on important solutions.

That is, implementing proactive, flexible, timely monetary policy in accordance with the developments of the situation; expansionary fiscal policy with more focus and key points; these two policies support each other.

Ensure energy security, supply enough energy for production, business and living; effectively control prices and markets, combat smuggling, prevent hoarding goods, price inflation, market manipulation affecting people, including researching and implementing measures to stabilize gasoline and oil prices according to regulations.

Regarding human security solutions, the Prime Minister directed ministries and sectors to calculate plans to evacuate Vietnamese citizens out of dangerous areas.

Information and communication agencies ensure accurate, timely, objective, and oriented information. Ministries, branches, and agencies coordinate closely, not leaving areas and fields vacant.

The Head of Government assigned the Ministry of Finance to develop a socio-economic management scenario suitable for different options, both short-term and long-term; at the same time, today, immediately submit a Government Resolution amending preferential import tax rates to contribute to diversifying supply sources, markets, products, and supply chains.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade should develop a management scenario on ensuring energy security in the face of oil price developments; research and implement measures to stabilize gasoline and oil prices according to regulations. Agencies should urgently submit the Government's Resolution on expanding the operations of the National Industry - Energy Group.
