On December 19, at the 11th meeting of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Waste and Negativity of Yen Bai province, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the summary of work in 2024 and discussed the direction and tasks for 2025.
According to a report from the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, in 2024, the work of preventing corruption, waste and negativity in Yen Bai achieved many remarkable results.
The Committee has resolutely directed all levels and sectors to carry out tasks to ensure focus, synchronization and efficiency, in accordance with the practical conditions of the province.
Last year, the province completed 203 administrative and specialized inspections. Thereby, violations worth nearly VND2.81 billion were discovered, of which VND667 million was recommended for payment to the State budget and over VND2.15 billion was recommended for other economic sanctions.
The Inspectorate also handled land with an area of 1,034 m2, issuing 309 administrative penalty decisions with a total value of 16.1 billion VND.
Police investigation agencies at all levels have prosecuted 13 cases/29 defendants for crimes related to economics, corruption, and negativity, of which 21 defendants are Party members. At the same time, they have resumed investigation of 2 cases/7 defendants, concluded the investigation and transferred to the Procuracy to propose prosecution of 11 cases/76 defendants.
The Provincial People's Procuracy prosecuted 4 cases/49 defendants and the Provincial People's Court held first instance trials of 4 cases/49 defendants, recovering 8.52 billion VND, reaching 80.2% of the lost money.
Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Tran Huy Tuan highly appreciated the efforts of the Steering Committee and relevant agencies in the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity; at the same time, he requested that in 2025, it is necessary to focus on strictly implementing regulations on power control, asset declaration, inspection, supervision, Party discipline enforcement, investigation, prosecution, trial and public finance management.
The Secretary of Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee emphasized the importance of implementing preventive measures, fighting against "petty corruption", and strengthening discipline and order in performing tasks.
In particular, it is necessary to promote propaganda and education on anti-corruption and negativity among cadres, Party members and civil servants, while at the same time promoting the role of the people, the Fatherland Front and social organizations in this work.
