According to the regulations of the State Bank of Vietnam in Circular No. 25/2025/TT-NHNN (amended and supplemented by Circular No. 17/2024/TT-NHNN), bank accounts used for business activities must be registered as business households and match the name on the Business Registration Certificate. This regulation aims to enhance transparency in financial transactions, support tax management, invoices and cash flow of business households - an area that is increasingly playing an important role in the economy.
Opportunity for business households to operate more professionally and systematically
According to the new guidance, business households do not continue to use the personal account of the household owner to carry out transactions serving business activities. Instead, the entire cash flow from sales and service provision needs to be carried out through accounts in the name of business households.
From a management perspective, unifying account names with business registration helps: clearly identify business entities; smoothly compare revenue and expenses; serve tax declaration and finalization and electronic invoice management.
For business households themselves, this is a step to help standardize financial activities, improve prestige with customers, especially businesses that need to get valid input invoices. Reality shows that, for invoices to be accepted, tax identification number information, unit name and receipt account need to be accurately compared with the invoice issuing unit. Therefore, using the correct business household account becomes an important condition to prove transparency and legality of transactions.
According to the classification in Decision 3389/QD-BTC in 2025, not all business households are required to open private accounts. However, households subject to tax management according to the declaration method, especially groups with revenue over 200 million VND/year, will have to open and use bank accounts in the name of business households. This is a group that must fully implement the regime: accounting books; invoices, documents; payments through banks to ensure transparency and standardization of financial activities.
