Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd. (SEVT) has completed negotiations and signed the first direct electricity purchase and sale contract in Vietnam through the national grid and officially uses renewable power sources to serve production activities.
With this DPPA contract, SEVT will be guaranteed electricity output from solar power sources with a scale of about 70 GWh per year - equivalent to electricity output supplied to about 17,000 households in Vietnam. The project is also expected to bring about emission reduction efficiency of about 46,000 tons of CO2 per year.
The renewable power source supplied to SEVT is produced from Duc Hue 2 Solar Power Plant (designed capacity of 49 MWp/41.4 MWAc, in Tay Ninh province) invested and developed by Duc Hue - Long An TTC Power Joint Stock Company. Putting this power plant into operation contributes to increasing the proportion of renewable energy in Vietnam's national power source structure.
This is the first actual transaction contract since Vietnam's DPPA mechanism was officially issued. This proves that global businesses such as Samsung Electronics can successfully deploy the mobilization of renewable energy.

Mr. Na Ki Hong, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, said: "Through this first DPPA contract, we hope to contribute to promoting the development of Vietnam's renewable energy market, while actively accompanying efforts to respond to the global climate change crisis.
In addition to SEVT's first DPPA power supply project this year, previously, in 2025, two other legal entities of Samsung Vietnam, Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) in Bac Ninh and Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) in Ho Chi Minh City, also promoted the use of renewable energy sources through the implementation of on-site rooftop solar power projects. Currently, these two legal entities are also promoting the addition and increase of DPPA power supply.
