Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon Season 4: Breaking records, spreading outstanding spirit

The 4th Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon has officially ended with great success, gathering more than 13,000 athletes from 55 countries and territories participating in 4 distances: Marathon (42.195km), Half Marathon (21.097km), 10km and 5km. Notably, the number of athletes registered for the 21km distance this year accounted for more than 30%, a large increase compared to the previous season, showing the strong development of Vietnamese sports.

Vietnamese athletes shine, setting many new impressions

This year's tournament brings together the best athletes, from Vietnamese athletics stars such as Hoang Nguyen Thanh, Nguyen Thi Oanh, Nguyen Van Lai, Nguyen Trung Cuong to the champions of the previous season such as Kiptoo Edwin ( men's champion of season 3 - 2024). The competition between veteran faces and new factors created exciting chases at the Marathon distance, ending with a surprising result when a new face from Ethiopia excellently emerged to win the final.

In the men's Marathon, athlete Kure Ebisa Takele (Ethiopia) finished first with a score of 2:29:34, followed by Lilan Kennedy (Kenya) with a time of completion in 2:30:27, athletes Hoang Nguyen Thanh and Huynh Anh Khoi - two representatives from Vietnam - finished third and fourth respectively with a score of 2: 30:57 and 2:33:34, Edwin Kiptoo (Kenya) finished in 5th place with a score of 2:37:34.

In the Women's Marathon race, Vietnam Athletes absolutely dominated when they occupied all five leading positions, affirming the resilience and bravery of domestic female athletes. Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa, the national record holder in 2024 with a record of 2:44:52 at Hong Kong Marathon, and also won the National Marathon Championship four times in a row (20222025) - continued to affirm her class when finishing first with a result of 2:54:19. Bui Thi Thu Ha and Doan Thi Oanh respectively finished second and third with 2:007:03 and 2:57:55. The next two positions belonged to Nguyen Thi Tra Giang with a score of 3:07:55 and Thai Thi Hong with a score of 3:08:16.

Competing in the Vietnam Open Marathon category, prominent names continue to affirm their position on the challenging race. In the men's category, athlete Pham Tien San successfully finished first with a time of 2:40:25, followed by Ha Quang Thang in second place with a time of 2:41:27, and Nguyen Mai Trung in third place with a time of 2:43:23. In the women's category, the top spot belonged to Hoang Huong Thuy with a score of 3: 3: 3: 21.21, seconded to Pham Thi My Duyen with a time of 3: 3:02:53, and Nguyen Thi My Hien third with a result of 3: 8: 84.

These record numbers are not only a break of personal limits but also affirm the quality of the race, proving the strength of the athletes' willpower and winning challenges on the track. In particular, Vietnamese athletes have also shined with outstanding achievements, contributing to affirming the growth of the domestic marathon movement.

I want to send a message to young runners: keep your love for this sport, persistent practice will definitely help you reach milestones that you yourself did not expect. For me, more than a victory, the most meaningful thing is that today I have witnessed the strong development of the Vietnamese running movement, more and more athletes participating, setting increasingly higher goals and having regional races such as the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon.

This year, the Organizing Committee announced a list of 101 outstanding athletes in the final categories and by age groups, in which 34 athletes were honored directly on stage, creating emotional and proud moments of honor while inspiring tens of thousands of attendees and millions of audiences to watch live on television and social networking platforms.

The special highlight of this year's season is the appearance of the largest Unnumbered Ship suffer (sub 3 Ship suffer) in the history of Vietnam Marathons - gathering more than 80 runners who have completed each marathon with an achievement of less than 3 hours. Initiated by PR SPORT - the official sponsor of the costumes, the Sub 3 train on the 4th season running route not only represents the steps of speed, but also becomes a symbol of the spirit of steel, resilience and aspiration to conquer the top, strongly inspiring the Vietnamese running community in each person's journey to overcome limits.
