At nearly 7:00 a.m. on a late April day at the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway construction site, Ly A Cho - a student of class 56ND1, Faculty of Construction of the Central College of Transport 1 (GTVT TW1) quickly started rolling the ground at Km 56.

After checking the engine for a while, Don't turn the car's starting key and then remove the needle. The wheelchair moved smoothly under the pure operations of this 17-year-old.
At school, we were allowed to practice driving, but the frequency was much less than in practice, Cho said loudly to get over the sound of the engine. "When I got here, I sat in the cabin for one session to teach more, then I could operate the machine myself."
Don is one of 28 students of TW1 College of Transport who were transferred with 5 lecturers to do an internship and directly participate in the construction of the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway within 60 days.
At the beginning of the new day from 5 am, students started "working" at about 6 and a half - 7 hours after moving to the gathering locations on the construction site. They have 2 hours of lunch break to "recharge", the work is continued for 17 hours for young people to gradually get used to the pace of work on the field.
Directly managing a group of 9 students, Mr. Chu Dang Quy - lecturer of the Department of Construction at TW1 College of Transport - said that most of them are of school age, although they have not yet encountered practical experience, but after only a few sessions, they have grasped the machine operation process and become familiar with the discipline on the construction site.

For older students, Mr. Quy and his colleagues only need to review safety regulations; while the younger group focuses on practicing professional communication skills, from how to interact with the older brothers to coordinate machine operation.
"For young people, this is the first time they have been exposed to a real, professional working environment with strict and standard requirements. But thanks to the good guidance to grasp safety regulations, technical details and behavioral culture on the construction site, the students quickly adapted to meet the requirements, Mr. Quy shared.
The pressure on the progress of the two projects Huu Nghi - Chi Lang and Dong Dang - Tra Linh is increasing as the construction time is reduced from 36 months to 24 months according to the direction of the Prime Minister, while the current time limit is only over 8 months.
Faced with the huge workload, contractors have mobilized a series of advanced machines to construction sites in Lang Son and Cao Bang to work overtime. However, the situation of "overloading machinery and lacking workers" poses a big challenge when contractors have difficulty recruiting more workers to drive and operate machinery.
To solve this situation, Deo Ca Group - as the leading investor of the two projects, has coordinated with TW1 and TW4 Transport Colleges to "commission" additional human resources from the training institution.
Mr. Tran Van Chuong - Head of the Faculty of Construction (TW1 College of Transport), said this is a valuable opportunity for lecturers to improve their skills, and students to access new production and technology in construction.
Through the internship model at the construction site, the school has a basis to adjust the training program, meeting the actual needs of businesses; students have access to practical work, improving practical skills. Meanwhile, businesses have more options for recruitment and save on retraining costs.
"Because this is a quality human resource product that the school and the business themselves combine in training," Mr. Chuong shared and said that in the coming time, the school will add 150 - 200 more students to the internship program.

During the working trip to inspect the two projects of Huu Nghi - Chi Lang and Dong Dang - Tra Linh on April 21, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh highly appreciated the initiative of Deo Ca Group to "turn construction sites into sports schools" and suggested that this enterprise study and replicate this model not only in the Northern expressway projects, but also in the South.
Responding to the Prime Minister's direction on human resource development where the projects pass through, Deo Ca has implemented the program "Practice Workers" and "Real-Working Engineers" with a scale of enrolling 500 - 1,000 students per year. In particular, "Real combat engineer" is for students who have completed the "Practice Workers" course, with a sponsorship policy for students with good achievements and committed to working at the Group.
Returning to the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway construction site, Ly A Cho hopes that after finishing his internship program, he will be able to continue working in this professional environment to become independent soon, have many conditions to learn and contribute to the projects. I will try harder in this internship, Cho said.
