In 2018, Mai Chi Tho street (Giang Bien and Duc Giang wards, Long Bien district, Hanoi) was given a sea name sign after many years of construction. The route is nearly 2km long, 48m wide, and can accommodate 6 lanes.
According to the design, the starting point of the route is at the intersection with Dao Van Tap Street, the end point is at the intersection with Ngo Gia Tu Street.
However, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, due to the land clearance of the two residential areas, this road is being "closed" and cannot be fully opened to traffic.
The two points of land clearance on the route are at the intersection with Van Hanh Street (Giang Bien Ward) and the end of the route, connecting to Ngo Gia Tu Street (Duc Giang Ward).
According to observations, cars traveling along Van Hanh Street to the end of Mai Chi Tho Street had to turn around to find another road. Motorbikes are forced to turn into a small alley to get onto Ngo Gia Tu Street. However, the concrete road is narrow and degraded, making it difficult for vehicles to travel.

Mr. Pham Thanh Duc (Giang Bien ward, Long Bien district) said that many years ago, authorities at all levels met to discuss and propose compensation plans for households subject to relocation, but up to now, some households have not agreed.
Having to live in the clearance area makes the lives of households like Mr. Duc face many difficulties and inconveniences when their houses are dilapidated and not repaired, and some families do not have clean water to use. Some areas have become garbage collection places, causing loss of aesthetics and environmental pollution.
"We hope the government will soon completely resolve the compensation, site clearance, and completion of the road to make traffic convenient, and the lives of people will also change" - Mr. Duc said.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Bui Quang Cu - Vice Chairman of Giang Bien Ward People's Committee (Long Bien District) - said that Mai Chi Tho road is a construction item of the Viet Hung Urban Area project, invested by the Housing and Urban Development Investment Corporation (HUD), implemented since 2004.
During the implementation process, the project needed to adjust some items, so in September 2024, the Hanoi People's Committee approved the adjustment of the project investment policy.
According to Mr. Bui Quang Cu, Mai Chi Tho road cannot be connected to Van Hanh road because there are still about 10 households in Giang Bien ward that have not been cleared. The final section of the route connecting to Ngo Gia Tu Street is still stuck with land clearance for more than 30 households in Duc Giang Ward.
"Previously, compensation for site clearance was resettled with land, then the Hanoi People's Committee resettled with apartments, so the people have not agreed" - Mr. Cu said.

Mr. Cu said that in the past, voters have made many recommendations related to site clearance for project implementation. Currently, the People's Committee of Long Bien District has worked with the investor and assigned tasks to the departments to resolve the project's problems.
Regarding the reflection that people within the project area do not have clean water to use, the Vice Chairman of Giang Bien Ward People's Committee said that a survey will be conducted to find a plan to support people, if it exceeds the authority, the district will report to resolve the issue.
"The most important thing is to promptly resolve the land clearance issue, creating conditions for people to have a place to live. The longer it takes, the more people suffer, traffic is inadequate, and the urban beauty is lost" - Mr. Cu said.
