"Whoever has something to contribute, whoever has meritorious services to contribute, whoever has property to contribute, whoever has a lot to contribute a lot, whoever has little to contribute a little" - is the call of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to launch the emulation movement of the whole country joining hands to "eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" nationwide from now until 2025, aiming to mobilize socialized capital, combined with resources from the State, to carry out three major tasks: supporting housing for people with meritorious services to the revolution; supporting housing according to national target programs and "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" for households not belonging to the above two groups. With the joint efforts, joint efforts and consensus, the majority of people have had solid houses, but there are still hundreds of thousands of households still living in temporary and dilapidated houses.
With the culture of oil and gas affection, the spirit of "contributing to bringing warm homes to compatriots", over the years, Petrovietnam has always been at the forefront, actively participating in the construction of solidarity houses and houses for the poor with the highest spirit of initiative and responsibility. From 2021 to 2023, Petrovietnam and its member units have actively supported the construction of more than 3,100 solidarity houses and houses for the poor nationwide, with a total cost of up to 160 billion VND. New, spacious houses have replaced makeshift houses, bringing "peace of mind" to thousands of disadvantaged households. This is not only material support, but also a symbol of the Group's solidarity, care and sharing with those who still have many difficulties, contributing to helping thousands of poor and near-poor households improve their lives.
As of September 2024, Petrovietnam and its member units have donated VND 113.84 billion to build 2,161 solidarity houses and houses for the poor in many localities (Cao Bang, Gia Lai, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, Hai Duong, Tra Vinh, Ca Mau, Yen Bai, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Nghe An, Lam Dong, Hau Giang...).
This activity is even more meaningful in the context of recent natural disasters and floods, which have left many people homeless and lacking housing. With the permission of the Government, Petrovietnam has coordinated with local authorities to rebuild the residential area of Kho Vang village, Coc Lau commune, Lao Cai province - an area directly affected and severely damaged by the historic storm No. 3. Petrovietnam's cooperation not only helps people overcome immediate difficulties, but also creates conditions for them to build a new, more sustainable life.
With the cultural tradition of Petrovietnam, the affection of the Oil and Gas people, the spirit of mutual love, sympathy, and sharing with the people of the whole country, in the two years 2024 - 2025, the Group and its member units will allocate a social security fund of 138 billion VND to sponsor the construction of 2,760 solidarity houses and houses for the poor. In addition to launching support, donations and drawing from the welfare fund, the Oil and Gas workers will organize extra work on "Volunteer Saturday" to contribute to the Group's social security fund. These activities have created a strong spread throughout oil and gas projects and factories across the country.
In recent years, along with promoting the development of production and business activities, social security work has always been of interest and focus to Petrovietnam and its member units. This is also one of the important tasks and responsibilities of the Group towards the community and society. At the same time, Petrovietnam also assigned its member units to implement a series of social security programs nationwide such as building houses of gratitude, social housing; supporting natural disaster prevention and control; building schools, investing in educational equipment for disadvantaged localities; supporting facilities, medical equipment, etc.
This is an important activity in the long-term, sustainable development strategy and is associated with the core values of the Oil and Gas culture: "Aspiration - Intelligence - Professionalism - Affection", the responsibility and affection of Oil and Gas workers towards the community and society, and the driving force to create conditions for the poor to settle down, start a business, and confidently develop production.
