On July 25, Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower Joint Stock Company (DHD) announced that it will organize a conference to summarize the work of disaster prevention and control in 2025.
At the same time, the unit also deploys key tasks for 2026 with the participation of representatives of departments, branches, local authorities in downstream areas and related units.
According to DHĐ Hydropower Company, in 2025, the meteorological and hydrological situation in the reservoir basin is complicated with many heavy rains. However, the unit has operated flood regulation safely, strictly complying with inter-reservoir operating procedures.
By the end of 2025, Don Duong and Ham Thuan reservoirs will both reach normal water levels, creating favorable conditions for power generation and water supply in the dry season of 2026.
The company also maintains a minimum flow after the dam, ensuring water sources for the downstream Cai Phan Rang and La Nga rivers in accordance with regulations.
To proactively respond to natural disasters, DHĐ Company has consolidated the Civil Defense Command, shock team; reviewed and updated natural disaster response plans, emergency situations and dam protection plans.
The spillway system, backup power source, rain monitoring equipment and downstream flood warning stations are inspected and maintained periodically, ready to operate.
At the conference, delegates focused on assessing the work of forecasting and warning of natural disasters; and at the same time proposed many solutions to improve the effectiveness of coordination between localities and reservoir management units in disaster prevention and control and search and rescue.
DHĐ Company proposed that localities continue to propagate to people to raise awareness of drowning prevention, proactively monitor information on reservoir operation, power generation and flood discharge.
At the same time, strengthen the management of the project protection corridor, to prevent encroachment on the riverbed, riverbank or illegal construction affecting project safety.
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Mr. Dang Van Cuong - General Director of DHĐ Company - said that according to the forecast of the meteorological agency, the weather in 2026 will continue to be unpredictable, with the risk of heavy rain, floods and inundation.
