According to the decision, the winning investor is Phan Thiet Sun Airport Co., Ltd.
This company was established in December 2025, headquartered in Phan Thiet coastal urban area (Phu Thuy ward, Lam Dong province).
Also in December 2025, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province decided to approve the investment policy for the civil aviation item of Phan Thiet airport project, in the form of bidding to select investors.
After selecting the project investor, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province assigned the Director of the Department of Construction, based on the approved content, to organize negotiations, complete, and sign contracts with the investor.
According to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, the project meets the increasing demand for air transport, creating motivation to promote socio-economic development, associated with the national defense and security tasks of the region and Lam Dong province.
The specific objective of the project is to serve the operation of level 4E civil aviation aircraft, with a designed capacity of 2 million passengers/year (in 2030). The airport will operate domestic routes and non-scheduled international flights when needed.
The project uses nearly 75ha of land. Total estimated investment capital is about 3, 797.9 billion VND, excluding compensation, support, and resettlement costs. The project's operating term is 50 years, from the date the investor is approved according to current legal regulations.
In mid-July 2025, this company also sent a document to the Office of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province regarding the concern and request for investment proposal for the civil item of the Phan Thiet airport project.
Phan Thiet Airport was started in January 2015. According to the approved plan, the project includes 2 items: Military airport and civil airport. Currently, the military item built by the Air Defense - Air Force Service has been put into operation.
