The boat sank, the whole family escaped
At around 2:00 a.m. on May 15, a boat sinking suddenly occurred in Vinh Trinh commune, Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city, pushing the family of Ms. Huynh Kim Su (47 years old) into a difficult situation. Fortunately, the couple and their daughter managed to escape in time.
According to Ms. Su, the boat worth 10 million VND has been her family's "mobile home" for more than 6 months. At the time of the incident, the whole family was sleeping on a boat anchored on Cai San canal.
"The boat is about to sink, my mother and I ran away!" - It was my husband's cry. In the moment of samsara, my daughter and I ran towards the boat. As soon as he set foot on the shore, the whole family witnessed the boat - the place to eat for half a year - gradually sinking under the cold water.
"At that time, there were very strange noises of electricity and thunder. Only about 10 minutes later, the boat completely disappeared from the water," Ms. Su said trembling.
What made Ms. Su startled when she thought back was the electrical outlet placed under the boat floor right at the mother and child's sleeping place. She thought that if it had been 10 minutes later, the whole family would have definitely had an accident because the water had flooded in.
Sharing about her family situation, Ms. Su said that they used to have to borrow land from relatives to live on. Near the end of 2024, when her brother's nephew needed more land, the couple decided to buy an old boat, considering it a new home. Life floating on the river has become daily, her husband is a freelancer, and she is a worker at a garment company in the area.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Nam - Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Trinh Commune (Vinh Thanh District, Can Tho City) informed that the local government has grasped the above incident and has now coordinated with the Fatherland Front to mobilize rice support and part of the funding for the family.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Nam further informed that the CPC had made a document to the District People's Committee, so that the District People's Committee shall consider the case of the family that is eligible to buy late -paying land because the family is not from poor households or near -poor households and is not in the landslide area forced to relocate emergency accommodation.
The "fire" of teachers did not go out after the night the boat sank
Amidst the chaos of difficulties and the unexpected incident of a boat sinking, submerging all items and school supplies, Truong Tuong Cong Ly Thi Song Xuan, a student of class 12C1 at Vinh Thanh High School (daughter of Ms. Su and her husband), still steadfastly cherishes the dream of standing on the podium. The deep love for History and the desire to inspire knowledge for the next generation will never go out of my heart.
"I love History and want to share knowledge and heroic stories of the nation. Despite the harsh circumstances, I am determined to pursue a pedagogical path to realize that," Song Xuan shared about his dream.
Mr. Pham Thinh Su - Head teacher of class 12C1, Vinh Thanh High School (Vinh Thanh District) said that class 12C1 is a voluntary group, and Song Xuan stands out as a student with an admirable learning spirit.
"I have been an excellent student for three consecutive years, this year I only have a little more to be an excellent student. really, teachers cannot criticize me for anything," Mr. Su affirmed.
To share the burden with Song Xuan, Mr. Su also contacted his colleagues and students in the class to support him with review materials. As for History, he will prepare it himself and send it to me.
