Unexpected accident pushes final year male student into prolonged coma
Nearly 4 months have passed since the accident, Le Quang Vu (final year student, from Hong Linh hamlet, Hung Nguyen Nam commune, Nghe An province) is still lying motionless on his hospital bed, never waking up. From a handsome young man preparing to step into the threshold of life, Vu now has to fight for life every day in the anxiety and exhaustion of his family.
In the Intensive Care Unit, Central Traditional Medicine Hospital (Hanoi), Ms. Nguyen Thi Hieu - Vu's mother quietly stayed by her child's side. With dark circles under her eyes because of many sleepless nights, she choked up: "My child is almost 3 and a half months old and still not awake. Her right eye is sometimes open, and her left eye is not... calling or asking, she doesn't know anything.
The accident happened when Vu was a student intern in Hai Phong. On the way back to his rented room with friends, he fell off his motorbike. What made the family resentful was that after the fall, Vu still went back to his room to sleep as usual. Until the next morning, when he was not seen waking up, friends checked and discovered an abnormality and took him to Viet - Tiep hospital (Hai Phong) for emergency treatment. The family was far away, not having time to be present, people from the company - where Vu was working - stood up to sign the emergency surgery paper for him from January 7, 2026.
Until now, my hands and feet still haven't moved," the mother said, her voice lost.

The near-poor family is exhausted, the mother is helpless by her son's hospital bed
Vu's family was originally farmers, life depended on a few acres of rice fields. Vu's father had congenital heart disease, had surgery since childhood, and later suffered from hepatitis B, so his health was weak and he could not do heavy work. The couple carefully raised their two children to study, life was always in a state of shortage.
The upheaval caused the family to fall into a deadlock. Since coming to Hanoi to take care of her child, Ms. Hieu has not been able to farm, which means she has lost her income. The treatment costs over the past time have been too heavy a burden, forcing the family to borrow everywhere.
The house in front was dilapidated, relatives contributed money to build a level 4 house but the roof was not completed yet. Now I still have debts, but people love me so they help a lot," she shared.
Confirming with reporters, Mr. Tran Van Thuat, Head of the Front Work Committee of Hong Linh hamlet, Hung Nguyen Nam commune, Nghe An, said that Vu's family is near-poor, his father is in poor health, and often sick. "When he had an accident, villagers and relatives also donated support, but due to rural conditions, the help was limited," he said.
Currently, Vu is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit, Central Hospital of Traditional Medicine. The mother came to Hanoi for the first time, bewildered in the crowded streets, only clinging to the faint hope that her son would one day wake up.
The family really hopes to receive help to have more conditions to treat her child," Ms. Hieu choked up.
All sharing at this time is not only a source of spiritual encouragement, but also hope to keep life for the young student who is fighting against fate every day.
