Cases of civil servants subject to disciplinary warnings under new regulations

    A reader with email buihoanxxx@gmail.com asked: According to the new regulations, civil servants who violate which violations will be subject to disciplinary action and warning?

    The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

    Article 9 of Decree 172/2025/ND-CP regulating disciplinary action against cadres and civil servants (effective from July 1, 2025) stipulates the form of disciplinary warning applied to cadres and civil servants who commit violations in one of the following cases:

    1. Having been disciplined by reprimand according to the provisions of Article 8 of this Decree and re-offending.

    2. Committing a first-time violation, causing serious consequences in one of the cases specified in Article 8 of this Decree.

    3. Committing a first-time violation, causing less serious consequences in one of the following cases:

    a) Cadres and civil servants holding leadership and management positions who do not properly and fully perform their duties and tasks of management and operation as assigned;

    b) The head of an agency, organization or unit that commits a serious violation of the law within the scope of responsibility without taking preventive measures.

    Thus, from July 1, 2025, civil servants who violate the above acts will be subject to disciplinary action and warning.
