Policies for ethnic minority boarding students in ethnic minority and mountainous areas

Clause 3, Article 6 of Decree 66/2026/ND-CP Regulating policies for nurseries children, students, trainees in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, coastal and island areas and educational institutions with nursery children, students enjoying policies (effective from May 1, 2026), stipulates policies for ethnic minority boarding students and university preparatory students as follows:

a) Policy scholarships: Regulated in Article 9 of Decree No. 84/2020/ND-CP dated July 17, 2020 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Education;

b) Commendation: In the school year, students who achieve the title "Excellent Student" are rewarded 800,000 VND/student; students who achieve the title "Good Student" are rewarded 600,000 VND/student;

c) Providing personal belongings and school supplies

Ethnic minority boarding students at each level of education and university preparatory students are given one-time gifts in kind: blankets, mosquito nets and other personal belongings with a budget of 1,080,000 VND/student;

Each school year, students are provided with 02 sets of uniforms and school supplies including: notebooks, paper, pens and other school supplies with a budget of 1,080,000 VND/student;

d) Train and bus fare: Ethnic minority boarding students are allocated train and bus fares 02 times during the Lunar New Year and summer vacation (both round trips and round trips) according to the normal fare of public transport (in case the area does not have public transport, it is calculated according to the distance and normal fare of public transport in other similar areas of the province). University preparatory students and end-of-grade ethnic minority boarding students are only allocated train and bus fares once during the Lunar New Year (both round trips and round trips);

e) Rice support: Each student is supported with 15 kg of rice per month and receives no more than 9 months/school year.

Thus, from May 1, 2026, policies for ethnic minority boarding students and university preparatory students in ethnic minority and mountainous areas will be implemented according to the above regulations.
