Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:
Clause 15, Article 1, Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance stipulates the amendment and supplement to Article 22 of the Law on Health Insurance No. 25/2008/QH12 on the level of health insurance benefits as follows:
c) 100% of medical examination and treatment costs when the patient has participated in health insurance for 5 consecutive years or more and the amount of co-payment for medical examination and treatment costs in the year is greater than 6 months of basic salary, except in cases of self-examination and treatment at the wrong medical facility;
Thus, not all cases that have participated in health insurance continuously for 5 years or more are entitled to 100% of health insurance examination and treatment costs.
To be covered 100% of the cost of medical examination and treatment by health insurance, health insurance participants must meet the following 2 conditions:
Firstly, the person must have participated in health insurance for at least 5 consecutive years from the time he/she participated in health insurance to the time of medical examination and treatment.
Second, the amount of co-payment for medical examination and treatment costs in the year is greater than 6 months of basic salary calculated from the time of participating in health insurance for 5 consecutive years, except in cases of going to the wrong medical examination and treatment facility.
