Grade I high school teachers need a master's degree or higher

Clause 3, Article 14 of Circular No. 30/2026/TT-BGDDT regulating professional standards for teachers of general education institutions (effective from April 14, 2026), stipulates the standards for the training and fostering level of high school teachers as follows:

3. For grade I

a) Having a master's degree or higher in a teacher training major suitable for the teaching subject or having a master's degree or higher in a major suitable for the teaching subject and having a pedagogical certificate for high school teachers;

b) Having a professional standard training certificate for high school teachers.

Clause 2, Article 16 of Circular No. 30/2026/TT-BGDĐT stipulates the transitional clause as follows:

2. Teachers in general education institutions who are recruited, received, or changed to the position of primary school teacher, secondary school teacher, and high school teacher before the effective date of this Circular are not required to meet the standards of having a professional development certificate for primary school, secondary school, and high school teachers.

Thus, from April 14, 2026 onwards, to become a grade I high school teacher, teachers need to have a master's degree and a pedagogical professional certificate according to the above regulations.
