Within the framework of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival, 2025 (DANAFF III), the Master Class of director Kang Je Kyu took place, attracting special attention from Korean cinema enthusiasts, especially young Vietnamese filmmakers.
Director Kang Je Kyu is considered a "monument" of contemporary Korean cinema; after 30 years in the profession, he holds 2 impressive records: the author of the most popular Korean film of all time, Chi Minh City - Taegukgi (2004), and the Korean film with the highest production budget of all time, The Road I Go - My Way (2011).
It is the wonderful combination of masterful storytelling ability and captivating acting of top stars such as Song Kang-ho, Jang Dong-gun, Won Bin, Choi Min-sik, Fan Bingbing... that has made Kang Je-gyu's works warmly welcomed in Korea and pioneered the opening of a wave of Korean films spreading across Asia and the world.

Director Kang Je Kyu's most notable contributions to Korean cinema are Shiri and Taegukgi. Shiri is the first major-budget Hollywood action film made in Korea, breaking box office records and contributing to the popularity of domestic films in this country.
Taegukgi was directed by 5 years later, once again setting a box office record, with more than ten million viewers in Korea alone. After establishing his own film production company under his name, he merged it with Myung Films in 2004, founding MK Pictures.
