On December 18, the conference to summarize the year 2024 and deploy the key tasks for 2025 of the culture, sports and tourism sector (VHTTDL) took place with the theme "Building an advanced culture with strong national identity - The driving force for national development in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise".
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and chaired the Conference.
A breakthrough year
Reporting at the Conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that the entire sector has completed its tasks well, with some aspects of work achieving positive results, measurable work products, and many bright spots and outstanding highlights.
In 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism chaired the reporting to competent authorities: passed one Law, one Program; commented on one Law; issued five Decrees; approved two Plans and one Industry Development Strategy. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued 16 Circulars under his authority.
An important highlight is that the Politburo issued Conclusion No. 70-KL/TW dated January 31, 2024 on the development of physical training and sports in the new period; the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period will create important resources for cultural development.
The 2024 Cultural Heritage Law Project - passed by the National Assembly on November 23, 2024 - has many new points, creating maximum convenience for the work of preserving and promoting heritage values, with the goal of "turning heritage into assets", closely linked with socio-economic development.
The work of preserving and promoting cultural heritage values continues to achieve new achievements: 9 more relics were ranked as Special National Monuments, 32 relics were ranked as National Monuments, 55 National Intangible Cultural Heritages were registered. Notably, Vietnam has 2 more heritages recognized by UNESCO.
The cultural industry has made breakthroughs with programs of great stature, appeal and social impact.
In the field of Cinema and Performing Arts, there have been many outstanding cultural industrial products, such as the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, the 1st International Jazz Festival - Nha Trang 2024, the "sold-out" shows of the programs "Call Me by Fire", "Anh trai say hi"...
These are vivid examples of the implementation of the Prime Minister's Directive on promoting the development of cultural industries.
In the field of sports, Vietnamese Sports is based on two pillars, sports for everyone with the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" in the spirit of "Strong people - Prosperous country". High-performance sports won a total of 482 gold medals, 360 silver medals, 372 bronze medals at international sports competitions.
The tourism industry has recovered positively after the pandemic and is assessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as a bright spot in the country's socio-economic picture.
International tourists to Vietnam reached the set target of 17-18 million; domestic tourists were estimated at 110 million. Total revenue from tourists was estimated at about 840 trillion VND.
Resolutely carry out the tasks of 2025
Mentioning some key tasks in 2025, the Minister said that this is a year of special importance in implementing and completing socio-economic development goals according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the period 2021-2025.
Firstly, the Ministry will focus on arranging, streamlining the organizational structure, stabilizing the operations of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism after the arrangement plan is approved by competent authorities, ensuring that agencies, units and organizations after the arrangement operate smoothly, effectively and efficiently immediately, without disrupting work and other normal activities.
Second, the Ministry will continue to advise on the comprehensive and timely institutionalization of the Party's new policies in the fields of culture, sports and tourism, the 2013 Constitution, especially in the cultural field; limit legal gaps. Combine legal perfection with enhancing enforcement effectiveness.
Third, the Ministry continues to focus on preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, core values, and unique identities of the Vietnamese people; and promoting the value of cultural heritages.
Applying new technology in cultural and artistic activities. Focusing on advanced elements in developing a culture that is modern, civilized, and imbued with national identity.
Fourth, persistently creating a healthy cultural environment is a solid premise for building Vietnamese people imbued with the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and national pride".
Fifth, implement the Strategy for developing Vietnam's cultural industries to 2030, with a vision to 2045, after being approved by the Prime Minister.
In particular, the focus is on improving the competitiveness and integration of the cultural market, developing Vietnamese cultural industrial products with potential and room for development; encouraging creativity in culture, literature and art associated with the characteristics of Vietnam and the times.
Sixth, continue to promote the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".
Seventh, implement the Vietnam Tourism System Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045. Develop and implement communication and tourism promotion programs and campaigns in key source markets of Vietnam tourism.
By 2025, the tourism industry aims to welcome and serve 22-23 million international tourists; 120-130 million domestic tourists. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 980-1,050 trillion VND.
"The entire industry will be ready with resources, with great efforts, determination, and drastic actions to strive to fulfill the function: "Culture is the foundation - Sports is strength - Sustainable tourism development", Mr. Nguyen Van Hung affirmed.
