Prime Minister attends the review of culture, sports and tourism sector

The year 2024 marks a transformation in the cultural industry from policy to practice, achieving clearer results in terms of awareness, action and results.

This morning (December 18), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended an online conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy key tasks in 2025 of the culture, sports and tourism sector with the theme: "Building an advanced culture imbued with national identity - The driving force for national development in the new era - The era of the Vietnamese people's rise".

The conference was connected online from the main bridge at the Government headquarters to the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with 772 bridges at the People's Committees of provinces, centrally-run cities and district-level People's Committees.

According to the report of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2024, the whole sector thoroughly grasped and promptly implemented the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly, closely following the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, based on the practical situation, actively and proactively implementing tasks with the theme of the year: "Dedication - Professionalism - Proficiency - Modernity - Solidarity - Discipline - Accelerating to the finish line".

The fields of culture, sports and tourism achieved clearer results in terms of awareness, action and results.

The change in awareness and thinking from "creating culture" to "State management of culture" is increasingly improved and perfected, approaching in depth.

The Ministry has focused on reviewing, promoting the amendment, supplementation, and completion of specialized legal policies with 20 legal documents, contributing to removing "bottlenecks" and "knots" to initially create development space.

The Ministry has consulted and submitted to the Government for consideration and reported to the National Assembly for approval of the Law on Cultural Heritage and the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period.

The improvement of the legal system on cultural heritage has had clear changes, creating an important legal corridor, contributing to removing difficulties and obstacles and turning cultural assets into development resources. Many cultural heritages have been recognized by UNESCO, and the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage has had many positive changes.

2024 marks a transformation of the cultural industry from policy to practice.

Cultural industry is becoming a trend and is identified as an important, sustainable part, contributing to the country's growth; policy mechanisms related to promoting creativity continue to be improved; the organization of law enforcement on copyright and related rights has made progress.

Vietnamese sports participation in international sports events left many positive impressions, winning a total of 1,214 international medals.

In 2024, international tourists to Vietnam are estimated to reach 17.5 million, up 38.9% over the same period in 2023; domestic tourists are estimated to reach 110 million, up 1.6% over the same period in 2023. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach about 840,000 billion VND, up 23.8% over the same period in 2023.
