Dien Bien is known for its famous tourism products in terms of history and culture. Among them, the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Special National Relic and a series of unique festivals of ethnic communities are prominent.
However, with those advantages, it is still not enough to make tourism a key economic sector of the province. Especially in extending the length of stay with rich and unique tourism products.
In recent years, besides completing infrastructure and attracting high-class resort tourism projects, Dien Bien has also focused on developing unique tourism products. In which, priority is given to developing community tourism and experiencing cultural spaces of ethnic groups.

Recently, at the 3rd Session, the Dien Bien Provincial People's Council passed a Resolution stipulating policies to support the development of tourism products in the province. This is an important mechanism to promote the development of unique tourism products, gradually making tourism an important economic sector of the province.
This Resolution stipulates many practical support policies for organizations and individuals operating in the tourism sector such as: Developing community tourism; investing in infrastructure for tourist areas and attractions; developing homestays; supporting the purchase of means of transporting tourists.
In addition, the Resolution also stipulates policies to support promotion and advertising; tourism startups; development of souvenir products, night economy; support for travel businesses and preferential credit loan policies to invest in tourism product development.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Hai Ha - Acting Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province said that the promulgation of the Resolution is very important in contributing to perfecting the mechanism and policies for tourism development, attracting investment, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.

After the Resolution officially takes effect, eligible community tourism villages will be supported with investment in landscape improvement, essential infrastructure construction, development of cultural and culinary experience products, handicrafts, digital transformation, management skills training and hiring consultants to develop products.
Homestay business households are also supported with funds to build new or renovate and upgrade accommodation facilities to improve the quality of service to tourists.
Notably, this is the first time Dien Bien province has issued a policy to support digital content creators (KOLs, KOCs) to promote tourism on digital platforms with a maximum support level of 50 million VND/organization or individual/year.
In addition, the Resolution also stipulates preferential credit loan policies through the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, creating conditions for organizations, individuals, and households to invest in developing destinations and unique tourism products.
