The contest is part of the European Culture - Tourism Week 2025, with the participation of 7 teams, all of whom are H'Mong ethnic people.

Within 50 minutes, each team must complete 6 cakes, each 15cm in diameter and beautifully present them for the judges to score.
The contest recreated a long-standing traditional custom of the H'Mong people - the cake symbolizing heaven, the land of fullness and solidarity.

Mr. Giang A Viet, a member of the sticky rice cake brewing team of Doan Ket commune, said: "Making sticky rice cake is a familiar job of the H'Mong people during Tet and festivals. Today, competing with the teams, I feel very happy and proud because the culture of my ethnic group is known by many people".

The first time witnessing the steps of making sticky rice cakes of the H'Mong people with his own eyes, unable to hide his excitement, Mr. Nguyen Trung Duc (a tourist from Bac Ninh province) shared: "Seeing H'Mong people brewing cakes and melting cakes in the cheering of cheers, I clearly feel the community solidarity. This is a memorable experience that no other place can have".

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Chairman of Moc Son Ward People's Committee, the sticky rice cake crafting competition is not only a playground for exchanging and preserving the cultural and culinary identity of the H'Mong people, but also an activity to promote cultural tourism.
Through the festival, we hope to make Moc Chau an attractive destination, connecting and developing the economy with traditional culture - Mr. Truong said.
