On March 28, Korean time, a media agency reported that IU and Byeon Woo Seok withdrew from "21st Century Princess Consort" due to different preferences for the film's global distribution platform.
A representative of IU's EDAM Entertainment ( record label and entertainment company under Kakao Entertainment) spoke up to clarify: "IU has not withdrawn from 21st Century Princess Consort. She is preparing for her role as scheduled."
Byeon Woo Seok's Baro Entertainment also denied this information, confirming the actor's appearance in the film.
In 21st Century Princess Consort, IU plays a female heiress who receives a huge fortune, despite being rich, but is considered a commoner without social status. The character played by Byeon Woo Seok is a prince but does not possess anything other than title. A romance later took place between two people from two different backgrounds.
Lee Ji-eun, known by her stage name IU, is a South Korean singer, songwriter and actress. She became a trainee at LOEN Entertainment (now Kakao Entertainment) in 2008 and debuted as a singer at the age of 15 with the album Lost and Found.
Although the two following albums, Growing Up and IU...IM, have both achieved success in the domestic market, it was not until "Good Day", the lead single from the 2010 album Real, was released, that IU achieved the status of a big star.
