For the first time, the entire system of commercial cinemas nationwide participated in the Film Week Commemorating the 79th Anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026). This is a national-scale free film screening program, serving political tasks and gratitude to people with meritorious services to the revolution.
Opening the series of film screenings was the work "Don't Burn" directed by People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh. On the first day, many cinemas in Hanoi recorded a widespread response from the public.
According to reporters' records at a cinema in the list of participants in the program in Long Bien ward (Hanoi), many spectators were present early, queuing to receive tickets to watch the movie.
Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh (Hanoi) shared: "After watching the movie, I understand more about the hardship and fierceness of wartime. Besides, I feel very sympathetic to the personal feelings of the characters in the movie. From there, I appreciate the peaceful life today even more, and at the same time have more useful historical knowledge to spread".
Sharing the same feeling, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Truong Anh (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi) said: "I feel very excited to go to see a movie on a big holiday. After watching this movie, I feel very touched. This is also a very practical propaganda activity, conveying the morality of'When drinking water, remember the source' and reminding of the merits of our ancestors during the war period".
The participation of commercial cinemas in the program has expanded opportunities for the public, especially young audiences, to access films about history and revolutionary wars. Through the stories told on the big screen, history becomes closer, contributing to helping today's generation understand more about the hard years and sacrifices of our ancestors and cherish more the value of peaceful life.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Duong (Hanoi) also said that the film was produced many years ago, so the image quality may not be as modern as today's works. However, according to her, this is what creates the uniqueness of the film, contributing to increasing authenticity and making the audience feel the atmosphere of the story told more clearly.
Through free screenings, the Film Week Commemorating the 79th Anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day contributes to bringing film works on historical topics, revolutionary wars closer to the public. This is also a way for stories about sacrifice, loss and patriotism to continue to be told, spreading the spirit of "Drinking water, remembering the source", "Gratitude" in today's life.
