When personality, uncontrolled speech leads to controversy
Gameshow and reality TV have been the "magnet" attracting audiences for many years thanks to everyday, natural elements and real interaction between artists. It is the flexibility and quick transformation that helps many artists become the "golden face" of Vietnamese television. However, many artists have argue about expressing their personality excessively, actions and statements without control on game shows to make an impression. And that was also the time when charm gradually became forced, even offensive.
In 2025, the Vietnamese game show witnessed a series of situations where artists " confused" and had controversial actions. In "2 days 1 night", singer Lamoon became the focus of criticism when he flatly said "he didn't want to breathe the same atmosphere" with his senior Kieu Minh Tuan. She also responded to Ngo Kien Huy: "You don't have teammates with me, I don't Ok with you". The statements seem to be a joke but are considered disrespectful to their seniors. Public opinion exploded, forcing Lamoon to publicly apologize and admit "lacking experience when participating in reality shows".
Similarly, actress Dieu Nhi at "Sao nhap ngu 2025" also got into controversy when she used hand-lipping and dirty water on her teammates in a competition game. Although the purpose was to make people laugh, many viewers thought that this behavior was offensive, unhygienic and unsuitable for young audiences. Not long after, she continued to be mentioned again because she was not on the medal table in Running Man Vietnam, making many people think that "there was a laughing stock".
Not only young artists but also famous stars have encountered similar controversies. Tran Thanh, Huong Giang, Le Duong Bao Lam - familiar faces on television have also been repeatedly reminded for their statements and actions.
Artists need to restrain their personality and speak appropriately
Looking at it objectively, with reality shows, artists expressing their true personalities and speaking freely will create a real feeling, helping the audience to watch the show more excitedly.
However, in addition to cheerful actions and words, artists need to be appropriately restrained. "If fate is used at the right time, it is a plus point, but if abused, it becomes a minus point. Strong personality is not a mistake, but lack of restraint is a problem. Many young artists, such as Lamoon, appearing on reality shows have expressed their sudden reflexes, lacking control of words that may stem from inexperience and want to prove themselves, leaving an impression on the audience - Mr. Hoang Van, media expert, Director of Clover Company - shared.
From a professional perspective, Mr. Hoang Van said: Gameshow is just a temporary stage where artists express their instinct, flexibility and natural interaction. But if you consider it a "land of acting" for showing off, arguing or making aises, your long-standing image will be quickly eroded. The story of fate of many artists today is the clearest proof.
What the audience looks forward to from artists is not only fun but also sophistication, awareness and behavioral culture. Maintaining that, the "fate" will only last a long time, otherwise, her career will easily stagnate due to controversy". When we know how to stop at the right time, fate will spread. When considering television as a place to "reveal everything", artists can lose their image in just one moment.
