On the evening of July 31, the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards ceremony took place in Paradise City (Incheon, Korea). The event was hosted by Jun Hyun Moo and Lim Yoona, this is also the 5th consecutive year that both have taken on the role of MC.
As the first award ceremony in Korea dedicated to content released on online platforms (OTT), the event gathered many works and stars that have created a buzz in the past year.
The most prestigious award - Daesang (Grand Prize) - this year was given to actress Kim Go Eun, who made her mark with the works "You and everything else", "The price of confession" (Netflix) and "Yumi's cells 3" (Tving).
This is the second time an actress has won the Daesang at this award, after Song Hye Kyo - who won the Daesang at the 2023 awards ceremony thanks to the Netflix movie "The Glory".
Speaking when receiving the award, Kim Go Eun emotionally said: "I have never taken acting for granted. I will consider this as a reward for my hard work.
In this moment, I remember many seniors who have accompanied me. Fortunately, I have always worked with great senior actors, so that I can learn and follow them. Hopefully one day, I will also become a senior like that”.
The actress burst into tears and choked up, sharing more: "I have never underestimated any opportunity to act in a movie. Every moment, every project, I always try to work with all my dedication, responsibility and strong desire.
I will continue to try my best so that the audience always wants to explore new aspects of me as an actor. Therefore, I hope everyone will continue to support me, look forward to my works and give me more opportunities.
Meanwhile, Tving's "The legend of kitchen soldier" won the Best TV Series award, thanks to successfully combining military, culinary and fantasy elements.
The Best Male Lead award was given to Park Hae Soo for the movie "The Scarecrow" (Genie TV), while Shin Hye Sun won the Best Female Lead award for the Netflix movie "The art of Sarah".
The Best Supporting Actor award went to Yoon Kyung Ho for his role in "The Legend of Kitchen Soldier", while Park Bo Kyung won the Best Supporting Actress award for "The art of Sarah".
The Best New Actor/Actress category went to Kim Jae Won in the movie "Yumi's cells 3" and Jeon So Young in the Netflix movie "If wishes could kill".
In the entertainment field, Kim Won Hoon (SNL Korea season 8) and Kim Sook (Doraiver: The Rival program) won the Best Male/Female Entertainment Artist category.
Joo Woo Jae (Doraiver: The Rival) and Jung Yi Rang (Sisters Café) won the Outstanding Male/Female Entertainer award, respectively.
In addition, actress Go Youn Jung was a prominent artist in the awards night when she was also named to receive the Global Icon Award and Popular Star Award.
3 other artists including Byeon Woo Seok, Yoo Jae Suk and Lee Soo Ji were also awarded the Favorite Star award, showing their strong appeal in the past year.
