On the afternoon of July 23, the media meeting event for the film project "Red Rain" took place in Hanoi.
Red Rain is a feature film about revolutionary war, script by writer Chu Lai, inspired and fictionalized by the event of 81 days and nights of heroic and resilient fighting in the war to protect the ancient citadel of Quang Tri in 1972,
At the meeting, veteran Nguyen Van Hoi - Head of the Tam Dao K3 Battalion Communications Department cried while watching a clip from the film. He tearfully talked about his missed teammates and his emotions when seeing footage recreating the fierce battle in Quang Tri.
"The soldiers are only in their 18s and 20s, most of them have never been in love. When they died, they called their mother and sister in pain. I was lucky to survive, but my teammates are still in that land," Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi shared.
Director, Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen also mentioned the details of the soldiers calling out to me, Mom. "When reading the script Red Rain written by writer Chu Lai, I was especially impressed by the scene where soldiers who sacrificed on the Thach Han River called out, 'Mom, because they were too young.' I cried a lot when I read that detail," the director confided.
During filming in Quang Tri, the crew made the work with the spirit of not only considering this a film but also expressing gratitude to the heroes who died for national independence.
When filming in Quang Tri, the weather was harsh, cold at night, sunny during the day and continuous rain, but the entire crew and the military agencies did not discourage or resolutely film.

At the event, Colonel Dao Van Phe - Deputy Head of the Communications Department of the K3 Tam Dao Battalion and Major, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Tran Trong Can also shared their thoughts on the memories in the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, where they witnessed the sacrifice of tens of thousands of soldiers in their twenties.
From the real stories of historical witnesses, writer Chu Lai completed the script for "Red Rain" and together with the People's Army Cinema realized this project.
Writer Chu Lai revealed that he wrote the script for "Red Rain" 10 years ago, with a strong desire to make a movie about the ancient city of Quang Tri. After that, a strong crew spent many months trying to complete the project, in time to release it on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2.
