Regarding the clip recording the scene of Miss Tourism Identity Vietnam 2026 contestants showing off swimsuits while many students in uniform below were watching in the special zone of Ly Son (Quang Ngai), the incident has caused many mixed opinions on social networks.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, designer Ta Linh Nhan - Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest - said that the spreading images do not fully reflect the context of the program.
According to Mr. Nhan, during the two days of activities in Ly Son, the Organizing Committee implemented many contents to promote local tourism such as flag salute ceremonies, visits to relics, introduction of fashion collections, and contests for Miss Sea and Island and Miss Sports.
Between activities, the Organizing Committee plans to spend about 15 minutes to award 50 scholarships, worth a total of 50 million VND, to students in difficult circumstances in the area, in coordination with local authorities.
However, due to the extremely sunny weather, we have reported and requested to adjust the schedule, postponing the scholarship awarding time from 3 pm to about 5 pm. This change has been agreed upon by the local authorities," he said.
According to the Head of the Organizing Committee, the students arrived early, so the unit in charge took them to the stand area to rest while waiting for the scholarship awarding time.
That is the common outdoor audience area. When the students entered, the swimsuit competition was still taking place for about the last 10 minutes. People watching the clip will think we deliberately let the contestants perform in front of students, but in reality it is not like that. The performance program is originally for people on the island and guests," Mr. Nhan explained.
He said that the video shared on social networks put the matter in an incomplete context, causing many people to misunderstand the purpose of the organizers.
I am a child of Quang Ngai, so I really want to promote the image of my homeland through the contest. We have prepared many community, charity and tourism promotion activities. The fact that a moment was cut and then spread made the whole crew very sad," he shared.
According to Mr. Nhan, after the incident caused controversy, the Organizing Committee proactively contacted the account that posted the clip to explain the context. The poster then deleted the post.
Although affirming that this was an unexpected incident, the Head of the Organizing Committee said that the crew still seriously acknowledged the comments from public opinion.
If that image makes the audience feel that it is not appropriate, then we would like to acknowledge it. In terms of organization, we will review and coordinate more closely, to avoid similar situations occurring in the remaining activities of the competition," he said.
Miss Tourism Identity Vietnam 2026 is currently entering a peak period with many activities in Quang Ngai and Ly Son special zone before the final night on July 28. The organizers said they will continue to coordinate with local authorities to ensure that activities take place according to plan, while minimizing situations that may cause misunderstanding in public opinion.
