According to data from Box Office Vietnam, as of the afternoon of April 13, the total revenue of "Trap of Money" only exceeded the 2 billion VND mark. With slow growth momentum, many opinions believe that the film is at risk of facing the problem of losses if it does not have a breakthrough in the following days, especially when the market is fiercely competing with many other entertainment works.
Although the project features a series of stars such as Lien Binh Phat, Tam Trieu Dang and especially artist Kieu Oanh participating, the film has not yet attracted audiences to go to theaters to watch.
The film's content revolves around the issue of fraud in the technology age, exploiting the dark sides of money and personal ambitions. Notably, the elements related to online fraud and AI technology in the film are considered topical, as social reality recently recorded an increase in sophisticated forms of fraud.
The project directed by Oscar Duong was originally scheduled to be released in theaters from November 2025 but was postponed for nearly half a year to edit the content and improve the quality after feedback from audiences during the trial screening.
Producer Hang Trinh said that postponing the release date is a necessary decision to avoid sensitive factors, and at the same time help the work be more complete before reaching the public. The crew also hopes that the story of technology fraud will create empathy when the social context has changed a lot compared to the time the script was formed.
Speaking specifically about artist Kieu Oanh's role on the big screen, in the movie, she plays the mother of the main character - a familiar type of role but the female artist strives to innovate by exploiting psychological depth. Kieu Oanh said that she is always cautious in choosing scripts, prioritizing suitable projects instead of chasing after quantity.
Answering reporters' interviews, artist Kieu Oanh said that she is not ambitious to play roles with high duration but only chooses roles with fate, with stories even if it is a supporting role, a guest role. Kieu Oanh is not pressured about this movie direction change because she sees this as a test step for herself.
Currently, the "Trap for Money" crew is actively promoting and interacting at cinema complexes to attract more audiences. However, before the initial revenue figures, the film's journey to conquer the box office is still a big question mark in the near future.
