"Yadang: The Snitch" is an action crime film exploiting the character "yadang" - a slang term used in Korea to refer to those who point out their professionalism, providing information about drug dealers to police or law enforcement agencies.
On screen, director Hwang Byeong Gug takes viewers deep into the underworld of the Korean drug trafficking industry while following intertwined stories between the three forces.
They are Lee Kang Su (Kang Ha Neul) - a famous "yadang" in the Korean drug world; Koo Kwan Hee (Yoo Hae Jin) - a prosecutor trying to advance with confidential information from "yadang" and Oh Sang Jae (Park Hae Joon) - a police officer determined to suppress drug crimes.
When their ambitions collide, a vital battle takes place, dragging everyone into a dangerous and brutal plot.
With the participation of three cult actors and the first time on the Korean big screen, "Yadang" as the main character, the movie "Yadang: Three sides of the rafter" quickly created attention, highly appreciated by the audience for recreating cruel realism. A part also identified the film as the drug world version of "Inside Men".
Since its release on April 16, "Yadang: Three Faces of an Incident" has continuously held the No. 1 position at the Korean box office. According to the Korean Film Council, as of noon on April 24, the film has attracted 1,040,819 audiences to the theater.
This number surpasses the previous record set by the movie "Hidden Face", reaching 1 million views on the 33rd day of release and ending with a total of 1,014,867 views - the highest for a Korean drama classified as R (restricted - limited - not for people under 17 years old without parents or adult caregivers). After the COVID-19 pandemic, Lotte Cinema's viewership rating increased from 9.2% to 9.4% in the second week of release.
In Vietnam, "Yadang: Three Faces of an Incredible feat" will officially premiere on May 16.
