Belonging to the romance and occult romance genre, The first night with the duke revolves around Cha Sun Chaek (Seohyun) - a college student. One day, she woke up and discovered that she had transformed into a supporting character in a romantic novel.
However, an incident happened that changed the original plot and Sun Chaek became the center of the story, having a one-night love with Yi Beon (Taecyeon) - a almost perfect guy with handsome appearance, martial arts skills and composure.
Despite the participation of two famous idols Seohyun (SNSD) and Taecyeon (2PM), the film's viewership rating is not high. The First Night with the Prince debuted with a rating of 3.3% and reached 3.4% in episode 2, according to Nielsen Korea.
According to the media, the reason for the gloomy opening was partly due to being shown in the middle of the week (Wednesday, Thursday), and partly due to controversy over the film crew's damage to Byeongsan Seowon - a UNESCO-recognized world heritage site, during filming.
Regarding this, director Lee Woong Hee has apologized and said that all related scenes at this location have been removed. "We have taken all possible measures immediately and the crew is still being investigated by competent authorities."
Meanwhile, actor Taecyeon affirmed: This incident is a warning for both the staff and the cast. I apologize to the audience for hearing bad news before the show airs. We have to make sure that things like this never happen again on set, Seohyun said.
It is worth mentioning that despite a quick apology and a move to overcome and increase supervision during filming, the film "First Night with the Prince" did not receive much sympathy.
