Quan Ky Nam is the comeback of director Leon Le after Song Lang. 7 years ago, Leon Le's film "Song Lang" received a storm of compliments from experts and critics. The film is rich in emotions with Leon Le's personal cinematic language that touches cinematic models of image, sound, and color.
7 years later, Leon Le returned with Quan Ky Nam still with the cinematic language as strong as Song Lang.
"Quan Ky Nam" is shaped into each shape and corner. The film moved the audience because of the beauty of life, the beauty of love, the beauty in each character told naturally, ordinaryly, simply.
However, after 3 days in theaters, as of noon on December 1, the revenue of Quan Ky Nam was 1.3 billion VND. The film is scheduled to have 1 screening per day.
A quick comparison with the most popular films in the Vietnamese film market, Mai by Tran Thanh earned 82 billion VND after 3 days of release, Mua Dong earned more than 100 billion VND after 3 days of ticket sales is currently the film with the fastest revenue rate of 100 billion VND of all time.
With 1 screening at "point" times such as 10am and 1pm as at present, "Quan Ky Nam" is at risk of having to leave the theater early. On film forums, audiences who love the art of cinema are calling for each other to "rescue" "Quan Ky Nam".
Many media channels expressed their grief for a beautiful Vietnamese film in 2025 that is at risk of having to leave theaters, facing losses and lack of tickets.
The cry for help for "Quan Ky Nam" is shared across all platforms. Quan Ky Nam revolves around the story of different lives with careers, ages, and fates in an old apartment complex in the 1980s in Ho Chi Minh City.
From the color, setting, camera angles to the music in Quan Ky Nam were carefully and meticulously selected by director Leon Le. The film is filmed entirely in plastic film, beautiful film color, with a delicate blend of people and scenery, between past and reality, between nostalgia and memories, between character costumes and green walls in the apartment complex...

The beauty of Quan Ky Nam is also expressed through the refinement of music. The songs are " playlisted" in each context, each line has its own meaning and message. The music and colors in Quan Ky Nam will remind audiences of the 7X and 8X generations of their childhood sky.
Talking to Lao Dong reporter, director Leon Le shared that he had a lot of "heartbroken" to choose the songs he wanted to include in the film.
You can see in the film songs like Em di gian gian gian gian vang, Loi tinh cua mua xuan, or the golden songs Xin gian qua nhanh... I have all inserted with many intentions, supplementing the image and dialogue in the film. However, the process of asking for permission to use these songs was very difficult, sometimes it seemed like a deadlock, unable to be performed. The authors of the songs are no longer in the world. I had to work hard to find their family, children and grandchildren... Because I had "arrested" the beautiful, meaningful melodies of those songs, I could not give up. Overcoming many difficulties and hardships, I met relatives of the authors to ask for permission to include the song in the film. I myself was very moved when I heard those songs.
When asked about the genre of author films, art films like Quan Ky Nam will often have to face losses and choose viewers, director Leon Le said: I can make commercial films, but I am haunted by stories like Quan Ky Nam. Every time a horror film is popular, many people will rush to make ghost films and spiritual horror films. The same goes for family films, a work that sells tickets, many other directors will do.... I want to choose my own path. I tell the story in my own way. In any case, there must be someone who is dedicated, someone who is a pioneer.
