As MC Tran Thanh introduced, the audience cheered Manbo's name as soon as he stepped onto the stage because Manbo is a member of GERDNANG - a popular rapper team, while the other 3 members including HIEUTHUHAI, HurryKng, Negav are the faces that have gained attention after Anh trai say hi.
Manbo confessed that sometimes he felt like he was slowing down his brothers, making the rapper feel uneasy. But instead of thinking about it, he decided to try harder and join Rap Viet to "race" with his brothers.
Manbo is one of the first 3 members to form the group GERDNANG (with HIEUTHUHAI, HurryKng) in 2018. But it wasn't until 2021, when HIEUTHUHAI brought the song "Cua" to the show King of Rap, that Manbo became more known as HIEUTHUHAI's teammate.
At that time, the viral rap line was: "Manbo, HIEUTHUHAI. We look so cool, cold as ice without trying". Therefore, at Rap Viet 2024, Manbo introduced himself as the person "always standing in front of HIEUTHUHAI".
Since 2021, HIEUTHUHAI has made great contributions to the development of the GERDNANG team. Not only did he constantly mention the members in the show King of Rap, after the show, HIEUTHUHAI continued to work with GERDNANG to produce many notable songs such as "1-800-Love", "Dynamic Duo", "See you under the moonlight", "Mamma Mia"...
But after 3 years, while HIEUTHUHAI and HurryKng are becoming more and more famous, Manbo seems to have stagnated. On his Spotify account, the most listened songs are all music products combined with the group, Manbo has very little personal mark.
Many people think that Manbo is inferior in appearance compared to other members. He also has an unimpressive voice and rapping style.
Manbo's most listened to solo songs mostly revolve around the theme of love such as "Sunshine", "Day without you", "Anh khong biet anh do sai vai gi", without any breakthrough in content.
Manbo said that there was a time when he felt lost because he didn't know which path or style to follow. He wanted to find his own strengths. After failing 3 seasons of Rap Viet, Manbo felt that this was the "ripe" time.
Last year, Manbo released the song "Anh Tung", sharing his journey of struggling to make a living, overcoming difficulties to pursue his passion for making music and becoming famous at the age of 20 (with GERDNANG).
On the Rap Viet stage this year, Manbo has matured in his rapping skills, musical thinking, delivery and content.
The male rapper performed the song "Hanh Trinh Khong Stop" in a storytelling style with clear, concise and meaningful words, helping the audience easily feel the messages he sent.
Manbo recounts his own journey, about the pressure of early fame: “Success comes too early, it's easy to forget yourself/Where do you put yourself in the 5 lines when the music is played.
I try so hard to be recognized but they close their eyes and ignore/The sweet words poured into my ears are exactly what I don't need.”
According to judge JustaTee, Manbo initially failed the Rap Viet 2024 qualifying round in Ho Chi Minh City, but the male rapper did not give up, continued to Hanoi to compete and was selected.
Being selected by all 4 cycling coaches and being Karik's First Choice is a worthy achievement for Manbo's "non-stop journey".
