On January 8, actor Park Sung Hoon of “Squid Game 2” had an interview with Korean media.
He directly spoke out about the controversy of posting adult film photos inspired by "Squid Game 2" on his personal page, causing outrage throughout the past week.
At the beginning of the interview, Park Sung Hoon expressed his worries, "I came here with a heavy heart and more worries than ever. I am truly sorry that I may have caused harm to the production process that was created with the efforts of many people, including the crew, staff, and actors."
The actor explained clearly about "accidentally" posting 18+ images on his personal page: "I found a problematic photo in my DM (direct message), when I was rushing out around lunchtime to make a schedule.
The film had just been released and I thought it was a shocking photo that could cause problems. While talking to the organizer, I think I accidentally posted it on my story when I sent it.”
Park Sung Hoon emphasized that he did not view the 18+ image/video. He also does not have another secondary Instagram account, so there is no way he posted to the wrong account.
While recounting the incident, the actor shed tears and paused for a moment.
He continued, “I feel very regretful and blame myself for the inconvenience my mistake has caused. I will continue my acting career with a heavy heart, paying attention to my words and actions so that things like this will not happen again.”
In addition, Park Sung Hoon said that he has not had a chance to talk to director Hwang Dong Hyuk. The actor called many times but could not contact him because the director's schedule was too busy.
“I felt it best to contact him after the matter was resolved. My views on the controversy were sent to the director through the company,” the actor said.
2 days ago, director Hwang Dong Hyuk expressed in an interview that he was “shocked” to see the 18+ image, and felt like his work was being insulted.
At that time, the director said he had not been able to contact Park Sung Hoon and "did not know why he posted such an image."
