In the first 5 months of the year, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached over 9.2 million, an increase of 21.3% over the same period last year. A positive signal is that Russia is in the top 10 markets with 210,000 visitors, making it Vietnam's largest tourist market in Europe.
According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), more than 6.4 million households in Russia are expected to travel abroad this summer, a sharp increase compared to 5.15 million in the same period last year.
At first, we predicted an increase of about 15%, but now the figure has been adjusted to 25% at the end of the season. This growth comes from many factors: Stronger ruptures and cheaper airfares in many destinations - Mr. Artur Muradyan - Vice President of ATOR - shared in Russia's KP.ru newspaper.
While familiar destinations such as Turkey and Abkhazia are still leading, some emerging destinations are making a breakthrough in the race to attract Russian tourists in the summer of 2025 such as Egypt, China...
In particular, the travel demand of Russian tourists to Vietnam has increased by 2.5 times thanks to the exploitation of new direct flights and charter flights. In particular, the Hanoi - Moscow direct flight officially resumed in early May after 3 years.
There are currently 96 flights per week between Russia and China, second only to Turkey. Vietnam is an ideal destination with beautiful seas and cultural experiences. The demand of Russian tourists has also increased in some other destinations such as Japan, South Korea and recently Iran thanks to more direct flights.
ATOR forecasts that the number of Russian tourists from June to August 2025 will grow strongly compared to the same period in 2024. Of which, Vietnam is expected to welcome 100,000 - an increase of about 140%.
