A network connecting the Vietnamese community far from home with ethnic origin
The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has just held a launching ceremony for the Day of Honoring the Vietnamese Language and the Overseas Search and Rescue Contest for Vietnamese Propaganda in 2025.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized the importance of preserving and spreading Vietnamese, affirming that Vietnamese is not only a means of communication but also a national soul, crystallizing Vietnamese cultural identity over thousands of years of history.This is the rope connecting the Vietnamese community far from home with the origin of the nation.
Reviewing the results achieved after 2 years of implementing the Project on honoring Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community abroad, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that in recent years, the response activities have been exciting in many rich forms, with the active participation of domestic, local and overseas Vietnamese agencies in the world.
With the spirit of " Preserving the Vietnamese language, preserving the Vietnamese soul", Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang called on the overseas Vietnamese community, associations and individuals to join hands to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language.
Representing overseas Vietnamese, Ms. Tran Hong Van, Vietnamese Ambassador in 2023, shared that helping overseas Vietnamese speak Vietnamese, love Vietnamese culture and help them connect with their ethnic origin will help them create a solid foundation to shine anywhere in the world. She also emphasized that maintaining the language and culture for the young generation of Vietnam in Australia and other countries around the world requires efforts from stakeholders.
Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Manh Dong has officially announced the Contest "Searching for Overseas Vietnamese Propaganda in 2025", calling on overseas Vietnamese to actively respond and participate in the contest.
Specific actions
Responding to the call, the Foreign Television Department (VTV4), Vietnam Television and Vietnam Education Publishing House have coordinated to produce the program "Miracle of Vietnamese" to support the teaching and learning of Vietnamese for Vietnamese children abroad through a treasure trove of folk literature imbued with national identity.
Accompanying them in the program were the gentle Vietnamese Tien Tien and the lovely little dragon Long Con, bringing interesting, useful and emotional lessons. The program will be broadcast at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, 2:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, and 7:45 p.m. on Friday on VTV4 channel from April 2025 and can be easily accessed on digital platforms. Along with that are the programs "Vietnamese is not difficult", "Happy with the Vietnamese language" - programs that help Vietnamese people far from home, especially the younger generation, learn and use Vietnamese more easily and vividly.
The Vietnam Center for Study and the Vietnamese Bamboo Language School (Japan) launched the contest "Vietnamese rhetoric competition, painting, learning about Vietnamese homeland" and launching Vietnamese bookcases built by the community. This is a useful playground, helping the Vietnamese community in Japan, especially the younger generation, more associated with the culture and language of the homeland, and at the same time create conditions for them to cultivate Vietnamese naturally.
Honoring Vietnamese Day and the 2025 Overseas Vietnamese Envoy Search contest have strongly affirmed the determination to preserve and spread Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community around the world.
