On December 31, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) held a summary and award ceremony for the 2024 Songwriting Contest on Ethnic Minorities.
The contest has 2 First Prizes (Northern and Southern regions), 2 Second Prizes, 2 Third Prizes, 6 Encouragement Prizes and 5 Open Prizes, for 17 excellent works selected from 276 works from 176 authors nationwide.
The two First Prizes of the contest went to the works "Echo of the Great Forest" by Cao Nam Cuong and "Mot Spring" by Nguyen Ngoc Khue.

According to musician, People's Artist Pham Ngoc Khoi, Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians Association and Head of the Organizing Committee, the contest attracted works that were diverse in both genre and theme. The songs were all imbued with national identity.
Many works praise the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the beauty and traditions of ethnic minorities. The musicians' creations also reflect social reality, combining folk and modern music.
These are works of profound artistic value, reflecting a new spirit, creating motivation for cultural and artistic activities of ethnic minorities.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Khoi expressed his emotion when the competition gathered musicians of different generations, showing that the topic of ethnic minorities is of interest and attractive.
The contest is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under Decision No. 1679/QD-BVHTTDL, chaired by the Department of Ethnic Culture, in coordination with relevant agencies and units.
The contest aims to encourage works that reflect good traditional cultural values, praise solidarity, achievements, and innovations in the lives of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas, and encourage creativity based on the materials and folk melodies of ethnic minorities. Bring musical works to life, spreading widely in the lives of people in mountainous areas and ethnic minorities.
