The joy of "home pond"
“With just a few clicks on my smartphone, I found a job,” Le Thi Thao Nhi (23 years old, Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province) recalls the moment she became a worker on the first day of her return home.
Like many workers who left their hometown in Dong Thap to work outside the province, Nhi was very hesitant when deciding to return home because she was afraid of the difficulty in finding a job. However, facing the pressure of paying rent, getting stuck in traffic after work, and especially lacking the warmth of family... through information on social networks, Nhi boldly returned home and was introduced by the Dong Thap Employment Service Center (Centre) to work at Dai Phat Garments Company Limited in Thap Muoi district near her home.
Although she only receives an apprentice salary because she has just changed jobs, from the salary of 13-15 million VND/person/month of her colleagues, combined with the price level in rural areas, Nhi believes that she will accumulate and stick with it for a long time. “More importantly, I also receive many things that I did not have in the city before. That is a harmonious working environment, fresh air and especially enjoying the warm atmosphere with my family,” Nhi shared.
Not only promoting direct job search connections, Dong Thap proactively receives repatriated workers with a long-term vision, such as applying many policies to support workers participating in vocational training courses advised by professional agencies, such as supporting 70% of tuition fees, 2 meals, dormitories, bicycles, etc. This has attracted many workers to boldly leave their ordinary jobs to return to their hometowns to learn a trade.
A typical example is the case of Nguyen Van Tu (born in 2001, Hong Ngu City). Having a stable job in Long An, Tu boldly returned to his hometown and studied Automotive Technology at Centre to be close to his family and to nurture the hope of becoming a future boss.
Creative and dedicated
These are 2 of thousands of Dong Thap workers who have found happiness right at home thanks to the province's creative and dedicated approach to connecting labor and employment.
Mr. Vo Van Tan - Deputy Director of the Center - said that, facing the reality that Dong Thap workers find it difficult to stay in jobs at facilities outside the province, while many businesses in the province are thirsty for labor, Dong Thap has directed to promote the connection between supply and demand.
On that basis, the Centre boldly innovates the content and connection methods, such as: applying information technology and social networks to enhance communication and especially diversifying the type of "Job Fair" by flexibly organizing on-site and at businesses with recruitment needs to both create a widespread impression and reduce time and travel costs for job seekers.
Thanks to that creative approach, in the first 9 months of 2024, 23 sessions were organized, creating jobs for more than 36,500 workers.
Not stopping there, the Centre also pays a lot of attention to post-connection. “During the first week of work, I often received phone calls from the Centre asking about and encouraging me, so I felt very warm and secure at work,” Nhi shared.
Talking to Lao Dong, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Han - CEO of Dai Phat Company - not only highly appreciated the quality of labor but also considered this as a belief for the enterprise to boldly build a second facility in Dong Thap in early 2025.
“Those are words of encouragement to motivate Dong Thap to accelerate connections in the coming time, expanding opportunities for repatriated workers to find happiness in their “home pond”, Mr. Tan determined.
