Attraction from large labor market
According to the People's Committee of Nghe An province, there are currently about 16,000 businesses operating in the province, with a demand for labor recruitment of up to 50,000 workers each year. In addition to the general labor force, the demand for trained and high-quality labor in the Nghe An labor market is increasing.
In 2024, Nghe An province attracted 1.696 billion USD of FDI capital, continuing to be in the top 10 provinces and cities leading in attracting FDI capital nationwide. Up to now, Nghe An has 165 valid FDI projects with a total capital of more than 5.5 billion USD, ranking 22nd out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
Nghe An has the advantage of abundant labor resources. With a population of about 3.4 million people (ranked 4th in the country), the province's labor force in 2024 is more than 1,620,000 people, accounting for 47.5% of the total population. The annual additional labor force is relatively large, while the number of unemployed workers in Nghe An province is still large. This is the labor supply for the recruitment needs of enterprises inside and outside the province to meet the expansion of production and business development.
Improve the quality of vocational training for workers
Nghe An currently has 54 vocational training institutions, institutions participating in vocational training. Of these, there are 22 institutions training highly skilled human resources (10 colleges, 12 secondary schools). The training enrollment scale is 77,991 students/year, including all levels of qualifications. The structure of occupations and training levels gradually meet the needs of the labor market and the economic restructuring in the province.
According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An province, in recent times, improving the capacity to forecast highly skilled human resources has been focused on by vocational training institutions in the province. The work of innovating the program and content of training highly skilled human resources is regularly carried out by vocational training institutions, with the participation of businesses and experts, and ensuring compliance with regulations on the process of building, appraising and issuing training programs.
The program structure and training content increase practice time; integrate knowledge with vocational skills, soft skills, and foreign languages for learners; and enhance education on industrial and professional working style and professional ethics for students trained at high professional levels. Therefore, the knowledge, skills, working attitude, and professional ethics of students after graduation better meet the requirements of businesses and the labor market.
The quality of vocational teachers has also been improved. Up to now, the total number of vocational teachers in Nghe An province is 2,065; 477 managers, of which 382 managers also participate in teaching, accounting for 80% of the total number of managers. Of which, 1,073 are teachers teaching in highly skilled human resource training institutions; 831 are teachers with post-graduate degrees, 242 are university degrees. There are 511 teachers participating in teaching key occupations at the international, ASEAN, and national levels.
