On the morning of October 12, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Phung Duy Hai - Secretary of the Party Committee of Phu My commune (Gia Lai province) - confirmed that a serious traffic accident had just occurred on the old National Highway 1A (Quang Trung road) through the commune, killing 2 people.
"The victim who died in the accident was a couple on the same motorbike. Currently, the authorities have come to examine the scene and investigate the cause of the incident," Mr. Hai informed.
According to initial information, at around 6:00 a.m. the same day, the sleeper bus with license plate 77H-048.xx was driven by driver Le Van K (born in 1971, residing in Van Duc commune), traveling in the South - North direction.
When arriving at the section passing through Tra Quang Nam village (Phu My commune), the passenger bus collided with a motorbike with license plate 77H-51xx driven by Mr. Nguyen Dinh H (born in 1948, residing in Phu My Nam commune) in the same direction, carrying his wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi L (born in 1954).
The strong collision caused Mr. H and his wife to be seriously injured and were taken to the emergency room by local people, but both died later.
After hitting the motorbike, the passenger bus continued to collide with a local car parked in front of a nearby house, damaging 3 vehicles.
