On May 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that it is speeding up the progress of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway project.
The work of placing piles for site clearance has been completed. On April 26, the Traffic Department handed over the entire boundary and map of the appraised land acquisition area to Cu Chi district. Relevant units will base on that to adjust and supplement land recovery notices for affected cases.
The People's Committee of Cu Chi district is currently developing a compensation, support, resettlement plan and implementing public posting, organizing a dialogue to collect opinions from affected people from now until June 20.
It is expected that in June 2025, the locality will complete the approval of plans, issue decisions on land recovery and pay compensation to households in phase 1.
From July 2025, the handover of the site will be implemented and completed in December 2025, creating conditions for the project to start on schedule.

In April, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved Component Project 3 - including compensation, support and resettlement for the expressway section passing through Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway has a total length of nearly 51 km, of which the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City is more than 24.7 km long, passing through 11 communes of Cu Chi district including: Phuoc Thanh, Trung Lap Ha, Trung Lap Thuong, Phuoc Hiep, Tan Thanh Tay, Tan Thanh Dong, Nhuan Duc, Phu Hoa Dong, Phuoc Vinh An, Tan An Hoi and Tan Phu Trung.
Phase 1 of the project will invest in the construction of a road with a scale of 4 lanes.
However, all compensation and site clearance work will be carried out at once on a complete scale of 6 lanes, including residential access roads and intersections with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, Provincial Road 8 and overpasses across the route.
The total area of affected land is about 220 hectares, including more than 6.1 hectares of residential land; more than 190 hectares of agricultural land; about 1.4 hectares of non-residential non-agricultural land and 22.2 hectares of public land (road, canal, ditch, canal, etc.).
There are a total of about 2,177 households and organizations affected by land acquisition, of which 254 cases are eligible for resettlement land arrangement and about 178 cases are built on agricultural land.
The resettlement land fund for the project is arranged from the resettlement area serving the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway and other public service projects in Pham Van Coi commune (Cu Chi district).
The total cost of compensation, support and resettlement for the expressway project through Ho Chi Minh City is more than VND 4,333 billion.

According to the Traffic Department, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway (phase 1) has a total investment of more than VND 19,600 billion, implemented under the form of a BOT contract (build - operate - transfer).
It is expected that the items of the residential access road and the overpass will start construction on September 2, 2025 with state budget capital.
By January 2026, the main expressway will officially start construction under a BOT contract and be completed and put into operation by the end of 2027.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, once completed, will be a strategic traffic axis, helping to reduce the load on National Highway 22, while improving the capacity to transport goods and passengers between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia, contributing to promoting international trade and developing the regional economy.
